Join us this Sunday, June 7, at 10 AM as Pastor Allie Rowland continues our sermon series, "Healthy Communication: How to Listen and Be Heard in a Digital Age," with "Group Messaging: Has God Left the Chat?"

Group messaging is an important tool for allowing us to share information and communicate online, but we are challenged when misunderstandings occur. We often don’t know how to deal with it when someone leaves the conversation and you see that your friend has “left the chat.” Additionally, many of us have had the experience on social media of being on the receiving end of disrespectful or abusive language. When that starts, it feels like God has left the chat. And we wonder what has happened to our ability to communicate ethically, respectfully, and with love. Early Christians had to deal with their share of church drama and miscommunication with delayed or missing letters. They had to decide what unified them. How do we maintain our calmness and our civility when it seems like God has left the chat?

Join us this Sunday, May 31, at 10 AM as Pastor Allie Rowland continues our sermon series, "Healthy Communication: How to Listen and Be Heard in a Digital Age," with "Incoming Message."

People have referred to the mid-20th century’s move to internet communication as the “information age.” And the challenge we often face in digital communication is that so much information is coming at us and from so many sources we feel overwhelmed. It can be difficult to prioritize, to identify our own feelings, and to know how and when to express them. Jesus modeled handling difficult news by retreating from people and the interactions around him and seeking Divine connection. Can we do the same? Do we make private time for ourselves in silence? Connecting to our own feelings and truth may be fundamental for better communication.
