“WALK DIFFERENTLY”
Ephesians 4:17-32

You’ve heard the saying, “If it walks like a duck, and if it quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck.”

This is in view of the fact that a duck has a distinct walk and talk.

Christians, like ducks, are to have a distinct walk and talk. How we walk and talk are to be distinguishing characteristics of us.

Furthermore, there are all types of walks. There’s the Slow walk; Fast walk; Limp Walk; Pimp Walk, Crip Walk; Cool Walk; Nerdy Walk; Young Walk; Old Walk; there’s the walk of a disabled person; the walk of a proud person; the walk of a shameful person.

But there is no walk like the Christian Person. It is distinct, unique, and altogether different.

The children of Israel were so different from the Egyptians, Moses asked Pharoah if they could leave Egypt to go worship God and then return. Furthermore, the purpose of the Law was to establish them as different before they entered the Promised Land.

Because of Christ, and the Spirit of God that dwells in every believer, we are to be different from everyone else around us.

“Knowing who Jesus is will result in wanting to walk with Him because He wants to walk with us, and our success as His followers requires this of us!”

In this last segment of this series of sermons, we will apply
what we know about Jesus and His desire for us.

“WALK WORTHY”
Ephesians 4:1-6 (NKJV)

Running is perhaps the single all-purpose exercise that’s great for our overall health. Studies have shown that it can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease as well as help with regulating mood and curbing appetite. However, one does not have to run to get the same health benefits from running.

Both walking and running are physical activities that can strengthen the heart and prevent heart disease. Additionally, walking can also improve lung function… and lower blood pressure.

You might recall the famous story of the “The Tortoise and The Hare.” In this story, the hare (or fast leaping rabbit) lost the race. As a result, everyone started using this story as an example of how the slow and steady pace of a walk wins the race.

Allow me to suggest that, although, in Hebrews 12:1, we are admonished to “run this race with patience,” implying a slow steady pace… I strongly believe that God prefers us to walk. God prefers for us to walk… not run… or leap… or jump… just walk. Walking is not as glamorous. It is not as exciting. You will not make progress as fast by simply walking. But walking is God’s preference.

"Walking with God," symbolizes a life lived in close companionship, obedience, and fellowship with Him.
