💚 Still thinking about Sunday’s Annual Women’s Day! Our is taking us back to an incredible day at Greater Victory.

Both services were filled with God’s people, powerful worship, and God’s Word that built us up through Min. LaToya Binion and Sis. Patricia Frazier. It was truly a beautiful day at Greater Victory!

And just like our church’s theme, we’re moving forward to Annual Men’s Day this Sunday, August 30! 💙

“THE GOOD SHEPHERD”
John 10:11-15

Recently... I noticed that I have 2,583 friends on Facebook. I have 3500 followers. Almost everywhere I go, I meet someone who is following me. That's really scary.

Everybody follows somebody, whether we realize it or not. And what or who we become is largely influenced by who we follow, which is determined by what’s important to us and the values we hold. It has a larger impact on where we end up in life. Yet, many people cannot justify or explain why they follow who they follow.

I want to suggest that you take a close look at who you choose to follow. Because, like sheep, some people have followed others over a cliff.

Another observation that I have made over the years is that people are not as quick to join a church as they were when I was growing up. People attend church for weeks, months, or even years, without getting up, walking down the aisle, and committing to what we traditionally call "Church Membership." Now, while my traditional upbringing caused some consternation as it relates to that, I am happy to see that people want to make sound decisions before they commit. And while they may not traditionally join church, they will connect with you if you are doing something worthwhile. A ministry activity that is worth their while…

This sermon is for those of you who still have not decided who you are going to follow, or if you are going to follow, or maybe you choose to follow when it feels right for you to follow, sometimes.

“DISPELLING THE DARKNESS”

“JESUS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD”
John 8:1-12 and 9:1-12

Did you know that according to the laws of physics, darkness is not a measurable force or entity; it is simply the absence of light. You cannot "sweep" darkness out of a room or vacuum it up. The only way to remove darkness is to introduce light.

After God created the Heavens and the Earth, His very first act recorded in the Bible was “DISPELLING THE DARKNESS.” And He did it by simply saying, “LET THERE BE LIGHT”; AND THERE WAS LIGHT.”

When John introduced Jesus in his Gospel account, he said in John 1:3-5:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

In other words, Genesis 1:1-3 informs us that life does not exist in darkness. John 1:3-5, life and light co-exist. And John 1:5 says darkness did not comprehend the light, or another way of seeing it is that darkness cannot win over light.

Darkness is not really a place; it is a condition, a state of being, a state of mind. It is a condition or state in which you cannot see your way out of.

This sermon is for everyone who sometimes feels overwhelmed by the "darkness" of this world.
