David has been attending Church of the Nazarene in Mid-City for quite some time. He's passionate about the work we do here and hopes to lead the church to become more of a helping hand to our neighbors. We are excited for all the ideas he has and continue to make Church of the Nazarene in Mid-City a more positive presence here in City Heights. David is also a musician, go listen to his recent creation.

As we all adjust to "Zoom Life" in so many corners of our lives, Mid City pastors have been thinking about how we can provide safety and accountability for Mid City leaders, kids, and youth in virtual settings (i.e. youth group, game nights, VBS meet-ups, etc.). We added an appendage to our children and youth safety policies regarding online gatherings. and wanted to share it with you all. Let us know if you have any questions and thanks to Pastor Becky, Pastor Angel, youth intern Cindy Amaya, and Derek Taylor for their help and expertise in creating this!

One week until Compassion Camp! We're so excited for your kids to join us for lots of fun, connection, and growth. We'll be dropping supply bags on your doorstep this Saturday (if you're local), so please register if you want to receive one. https://vbsmate.com/events/MidCityVBS/19589

If you're not in San Diego, look for an email by mid-week with a simple supply list and printable activity and coloring pages.

If for whatever reason (traveling, illness, kids being kids), you're unable to watch the videos on the day they're posted- they won't disappear. You can do all of this (except the Zooms) at your own pace.

Here's the structure and schedule:

Video Lessons

Posted every other weekday at 9 am, beginning July 20, to be watched at home
Gathering and Music (introduce theme and song of the day)
Bible story and response
Movement (Yoga or cooking)

At-Home Activities

Crafts and activities to go along with each day’s theme (included in bags)
Create (crafts)

Zoom Gatherings

July 20, 24, and 31, 10:00-10:30 am

Parents! Your kids are invited to Mid City's virtual VBS: Compassion Camp: Be Kind. Be Loved. Be You.

We'll be exploring what it means to have compassion for others, ourselves, and the world. It is geared toward preschool-age children and K-5th graders, and it is incredibly flexible, adaptable, and fun for the entire family, older siblings included.

You don't have to live in San Diego or attend Mid City to join us for Compassion Camp. Feel free to invite your friends and cousins!

Our kick-off date is July 20. Sign your child/ren up here and be on the lookout for more info soon:
