Last Saturday, I had the joy of witnessing the sacred “I do” of this beautiful couple, surrounded by family and wrapped in God’s grace.

St. Francis de Sales wrote: “It was God who brought Eve to our first father Adam… it is He who gives you one to the other; therefore cherish one another with a holy, sacred, heavenly love.”

May the Lord who brought them together keep their love faithful, joyful, and strong through every season of life. Amen.

And for me, another quiet reminder to thank God for the privilege of serving His people, in uniform and out of uniform. ⚓️🙏🏾❤️

Congratulations to the newlyweds! May your marriage always lead you closer to God and closer to one another.

WHEN LOVE BLOWS THE TRUMPET: 23RD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2026 (R. 1: Ezekiel 33:7-9; Psalm 95:1-2, 6-9; R. 2: Romans 13:8-10; Gospel: Matthew 18:15-20) In this homily, Fr Emmanuel Ochigbo reflects that God’s appointment of Ezekiel as a watchman reveals both a privilege and a responsibility: Christians are not called to control others, but to love them enough to warn, correct, and seek their good. Connecting Ezekiel with Jesus’ teaching on fraternal correction, he emphasizes that Christian love neither remains silent in the face of danger nor humiliates the offender, but speaks truth with courage, dignity, and the desire to “win back” a brother or sister. He concludes that just as a watchman sounds the trumpet to wake a sleeping city, sometimes salvation begins when someone loves us enough to wake us up.
