“Ah, stubborn children….”
These are never opening words we wish to hear from God. Yet His warning to the Israelites in Isaiah 30:1 can inform our steps.

“‘Ah, stubborn children,’ declares the LORD, ‘who carry out a plan, but not Mine.’”

We can glean wisdom for our lives from God’s correction. Let us not waste our limited energy or precious time on plans God is not behind. If an endeavor is not blessed by His touch, it becomes a black hole devouring our attention and nullifying our efforts.

Instead, we can practice trading our agendas for God’s plans. As we do, we discover His intentions are always for our good, and His plans are grander than anything we can orchestrate. So let us rightly invest our energy and commit ourselves to His ways that are higher than our own.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” Jeremiah 29:11
