A quick text to our son this morning

Storm - A cool fact to know this morning:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." (John 1:1-2 NIV)

Read it slowly to try to understand.

Cool fact. It is written in the Hebrew language.

The word He in the last sentence is plural but we know God is ONE.

But since it is plural Who was with God in the beginning creating the world? The WORD – WHO IS JESUS CHRIST.

We are little saints – called Christians. Christ is THE WORD.

God created the world by speaking it into being, “Let there be…”

So, we also must understand that what we speak – creates and forms our world, especially within.

If you speak about how stupid you are, you will feel stupid and even perhaps fail more often than not.

If you speak about how fearful and worried you are – you will not have peace.

And remember, what you speak comes from what is already in your heart.

So if you pour fear media into my heart – fear will eventually come out.

I know this is concise, but what you SEE, HEAR, DO and WHO you hang around with becomes what is in your heart – whether you like it or not.

So be aware and picky about what you SEE, HEAR, DO and WHO you hang around with.

ALSO, stay in THE WORD to remind yourself of WHO YOU ARE.

You are a son of THE MOST HIGH GOD. You do not need to look at anyone else.

It can be easy to feel like we deserve the blessings of others. It can also be easy to be upset with others seem to have no problems even though they cheat, lie hurt others.

First of all God made you absolutely unique. Your fingerprint doesn’t match anyone else’s. He put you in your generation for a reason. He put you in your exact area of the world for a reason.

Looking at someone else is futile. You be you. If you don’t fulfill who you are, no one else will. And then the world misses out on the plan God has for you.

Secondly, remember promise from God –

“… “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:30,31)

PS. When Jesus was born - the book of John says, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling AMONG us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

But when we receive The Lord, The Word resides WITHIN US.

Shift your eyes to snowy mountains
Your ears to the sun kissed sea
Your mind to the lush valleys
Wherever you want to be

Remember a sweet time
Where you once stopped to soak
In God’s peace and presence
Your heart filled as God spoke

As Peter you silently wanted to stay
In the stillness and not move away
Because doing so meant inviting
Earth’s toil, hardships, and fray

A tiny taste of heaven
A teeny glimpse of your real home
A beautiful place to gaze
Where you and God were alone

Wherever you are today…

God is there in all your struggles
He sees what you need before you say
He sends angels to uphold you
And more are on their way

He strengthens you when you need it
He heals your body, soul and spirit
And God always speaks deep in your heart
When you’re still to hear it

Precious Child of God
Do not fear for He will restore
The years the locusts have eaten
And many, many more

There’s a place called loneliness

Where only God can reach my soul

For only He has the Words

To comfort and console

He lifts me out of sadness

And whispers in my ear

That He’s heard my prayers

And will not leave me here

I soak in His Promises

Opposite of what I see

Believing because God said it

It will come to be

Hold on dear child of God

Don’t ever give up

Although the pain is great

God’s never early, but He’s also never late

July 4th – Why did we leave oppressors?

1. Religious Freedom. Many colonists left England for the New World seeking the ability to worship as they desired.

Today: In more than one-fourth of the nations in the world, there is religious persecution – even leading to death.

Globally, this is increasingly true for Christians and Jews.
Nationally, Bremerton High School assistant football coach Joseph Kennedy prayed at the 50-yard-line AFTER games. His actions put him on “administrative leave” causing him to lose his job.

A week ago Monday, in a 6-3 ruling. the Supreme Court said that the free exercise and free speech clauses of the First Amendment protected Kennedy's prayer time, as he was an individual engaging in religious expression.

2. High Taxes. Colonists were charged high taxes but basically didn’t have input as to how these taxes were used.

3. They were not to send representatives to Parliament to request more freedom and laws were further instated to control them.

Here is what Billy Graham said years ago:
“July 4th commemorates the day in 1776 that our nation declared itself to be an independent nation, and no longer a colony of England. On that date, a number of our leading citizens signed what is known as the Declaration of Independence, stating our determination to become a free country.

Our independence did not come easily; only after several difficult years of war would it finally be won. Nor were our first years as a nation free from problems and controversies (as is still true).

But our forefathers were determined to establish a free and democratic system of government, and the Declaration of Independence (together with our Constitution and the Bill of Rights) became the foundation for this. They have stood the test of time, and on July 4th we give thanks for the wisdom and faith and courage of those leaders.

Although it is not a religious holiday like Christmas or Easter, for many Americans July 4th is a time to reflect on God’s goodness to us as a nation. Molded into the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia (which proclaimed our independence) are these words from the Bible: “Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof” (Leviticus 25:10, KJV). Our legal system reflects our Judeo-Christian roots.

While we look with gratitude to the past on this July 4th, may we also look in faith to the future, and commit it and our lives to God and His will. The ancient words of the Psalmist are still true: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).”

Those Who Trust In The Lord Will Not Be Disappointed

If we belong to Christ, then God appoints our earth assignment. The question is: Can we mess that up?

Many people feel disappointed in themselves, life and God. But Scripture states:

Those Who Trust In The Lord Will Not Be Disappointed

Romans 5:5 “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.”

Ps. 22:5 “They cried to You and were saved; in You they trusted and were not disappointed.”

Isa. 49:23 “Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in Me will not be disappointed.”

Rom. 9:33b “...the one who trusts in Him will not be disappointed (or put to shame).”

Rom. 10:11 “As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disappointed (or put to shame).”

To appoint someone is to assign a role or duty to them. God has a role for each of us to play on this earth. He says that if we trust Him, then we WILL NOT be DISAPPOINTED.

In other words, as I often say, God gives us “Plan A.” We may choose “plan Z.” But if we give “Plan Z” back to God and trust Him with it, He makes “Plan Z” better than “Plan A.”

How do I know? Read Jonah. Read about Saul (Paul). Read about Jacob (Israel).

Look at other Scriptures such as Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

If you are a Believer, then you are called/appointed according to God’s purposes for you upon this earth. You, unlike those who don’t believe, can call upon God, give Him your wasted years, sins and all your junk. When you trust Him, God PROMISES that He will reappoint you to His great plan.

It’s up to you to trust Him. It’s up to Him to make “Plan Z” better than “Plan A.”

I don’t HOW He does it. But His Word has always held true in my life and the lives of millions of other believers who TRUST HIM.

We don’t need to know HOW. We need to know HIM.

In 1999 had A.M.L. (Acute Myelogenous Leukemia) bone marrow cancer. No chance (scientifically) of living since my bone marrow was 99% cancer.

Some photos came up in my FB memories today. Our daughter, Matlin, is 4. I’m in a wig. And we all dragged Lacey to the Nutcracker ballet (look at his face). Makes me laugh!

I'm listening to gospel music this morning: "You've been so good to me" and praising God for getting me through the cancer struggle: months in the hospital, 38 blood transfusions, platelet transfusions and 7 kinds of chemotherapy. What were my chances for living? My hematologist/oncologist told me on day one that I had a 50% chance of dying the first night. Only God!!! So praising Him for that miracle!

But also praising God that He continues to be with me through the yet unanswered prayer and daily struggle of 40 years of spinal and cervical chronic pain/nerve pain; after having so many spinal surgeries/severely botched spinal surgery/in bed for YEARS at a time and spinal reconstructive surgeries. Two near death experiences and in a coma for a week. x
My entire spine is fused to metal rods, screws, plates cadaver bone, liquid bone and several parakeets. (Just seeing if you’re awake.) So I cannot move/bend my back at all. I can ONLY move my neck and it is herniated on 4 levels…

But millisecond by millisecond, God gets me through the suffering and anguish and adds joy, the gift of family and friendship and so much more!

Let’s look at you.

You might have chronic pain whether it be physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, financial, or relational (a child, spouse, parent, family or friend).

You may also be living with chronic fear or anxiety.

Let me tell you, there is NO ONE who can take you from the cradle to eternity – giving you a full life - other than JESUS CHRIST. (John 10:10)

God’s LOVE, Word and Truth sets us free from fear and anxiety - beyond reasoning.
One personal example of fear is, “If I hurt beyond what I can take at age 53 – how will I stand the pain when I’m 73?"

TRUTH – God has gotten me from the cradle to here. He is faithful. And THIS works:

“Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything through prayer and supplication (asking), with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6)
The PEACE OF GOD which SURPASSES UNDERSTANDING will GUARD our HEARTS AND MINDS in CHRIST JESUS.

Perhaps there is no time in history when we more need our hearts and minds guarded from evil, depression, a spirit of heaviness, anger, anxiety – or even the feeling of constantly rushing from sunup to sunset without soul satisfaction…

God always fulfills His promises!!! And The Bible is RICH with them.

If you're feeling a bit blue or overburdened and cannot get to a Bible, listen to praise music. I’m listening to: “Do Not Pass Me By” Pandora/Radio.

And know this – I’M PRAYING FOR YOU RIGHT NOW.

Our prayers for one another accomplish a lot!!! (James 5:16 paraphrased)

So my O’Neill Irish prayer for you right now is:

May your heart be full of love and free from fear.

May your soul be free from bitterness as you fully realize God’s forgiveness of all the junk that you have done that is forgiven forever.

May your days be full of joy and free from anxiety.

May your spirit rise in purpose, as you see more and more, that the most important things in your life are GOD and PEOPLE! (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29-31)

And may you have constant internal fulfillment (regardless of changing circumstances) as you LIVE and GIVE!

Amen (so be it).

GRIEF. i fight grief.

Grief that so many people, especially young people, are rejecting Jesus/The Truth for satanic lies – worshipping: world peace, themselves, money, nature, material things, fame, and more gods than i can name.

Grief that our own children are not currently following Jesus.

Grief over what is happening to our country through lies, deceit, the love of money and the lust for power and more and more control.

Grief concerning those suffering greatly with Covid. Grief over all the “cover-ups” concerning Covid. And for the families who have lost loved ones to this evil virus…

Grief over having chronic pain for 4 decades now and the ALL the things i cannot do, people i no longer see because of all the places i cannot go…

Concerning grief - there is a time, even a season to grieve but God doesn’t want us to permanently abide/live in grief. Living in grief can open the door to a spirit of self-pity. Emphasis on SELF.

God wants us to cling to Him always, but especially during grief. We can pour out our hearts to Him and to trusted Christian friends – who will pray with us, lead us back to The Word and speak Truth into our lives.

When we find ourselves slipping into grief, it’s important to notice what we are thinking about.

Paul wrote his letter to the Church in Philippi while in prison. Yet the letter is about the joy of following Jesus as well as the secret to being content in any situation.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate/think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)

And when we think on pure and lovely things – good reports – praises and more – we become grateful! And start to praise God!

We lift our heads to heaven, our real home, and get our eyes off earth!

Praise God for the Apostle Paul who sets the example that we can have the joy of the Lord amid acute troubles in our bodies, souls and spirits.

For the joy of the Lord is our strength! And we need strength in this present day.

To follow Jesus i have had to give up:

MY WAY

ANXIETY

SELFISHNESS

THE RIGHT TO BE ANGRY FOR LONG

UNFORGIVENESS

WHAT I THINK I DESERVE

BEING OFFENDED

LOOKING AT HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN…

RELYING ON WHAT I SEE, HEAR, FEEL OVER WHAT GOD SAYS

ANY FORM OF SELF PITY

BEING MAD AT MYSELF

REGRET

PRIDE

FEAR

GUILT

i pray that the love of God and faith is revealed through me – though i stumble and fall too often for my liking.

HOW TO GET RID OF FEAR/ANXIETY.

When I was told that i had AML leukemia, i was immediately rushed to the hospital.

At first I was relieved. I had felt progressively sick and sicker for a year and a half and no doctor could tell me why.

Nurses scurried all around me. They ran an IV. i was about to go into surgery to put in the portal for the blood and platelet transfusions.

My parents came. Friends showed up. The chaos was pleasantly distracting.

Then i was told by my oncologist/hematologist that i had a 50% chance of dying that very night from the harsh 7-8 kinds of chemo he had to give me to empty my bone marrow. (My bone marrow was 99% cancer)

At once i felt an unfamiliar fear/panic in my heart. i thought of my 4-year-old little girl. i thought of my husband and family…

So i asked my husband to pray for me.

In the midst of my panic, he put his hands on my head and said, “My wife has not received a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and a sound mind.”

Immediately that spirit fled from me and peace reigned.

Why? How?

What i knew from The Bible was that FEAR (anxiety, panic, worry) was an EVIL SPIRIT sent from the pit of hell to ruin my life AND that God did not send it to me!!!

Fear is not just a feeling or the result of worries. Fear is an evil spirit.

satan sends this spirit to wreck our lives and weaken our trust in God.

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”

God gives us power, love and a sound mind. Not fear.

So we can REJECT the spirit of fear just like any other demonic spirit.

“In Jesus’ name – I command the spirit of fear to flee from me!”

Helpful in the journey:

1. Memorize 2Tim 1:7 and *say it over and over until you believe it. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

2. After you use your authority to dispel that demonic spirit then put on Christian praise music!
The Bible tells us over and over that the enemy is defeated when the people praised.
“And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir (their enemies seeking to destroy them all), which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” (2 Chronicles 20:22)
Read all of 2 Chronicles 20 and remember that we have a new better covenant in Christ that they didn’t have yet!!!
Jesus has given us His authority over the demonic world. “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

3. Put faith Scriptures everywhere you frequent.

For example, being in the hospital for those months, satan would try to attack while i was alone in the bathroom. So I put a Scripture promise book in there to focus on - not allowing my brain to wander.

4. Memorize more anxiety/fear Scriptures.

For example: Phil. 4:6,7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, *will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

*Peace guards our heart. Peace is from God. Fear is from satan.

We are to reject what satan sends us and know that FEAR NEVER from God.

5. Apply the blood of Jesus.

“I am covered in the blood of Jesus. Satan flee from me in Jesus’ Name.

"And they overcame him [satan] by the blood of the Lamb...." (Rev. 12:11)

The First To See You Smile

I beheld you fully
although you were still invisible to the human eye.
I picked you up and pulled you close to My heart.
I was the first to see you smile.

Gently, with happy tears
I placed you in your mother’s womb.
And prayed.
For a True Father always prays
when He must be separated from His child.

I watched your birth day. I was there for all of your birthdays.
I was there for all of your firsts.
And I will be there for all of your lasts.

I chose your personality, your passions,
your talents, your dreams –
All that makes up the real you.

That’s why even when you don’t understand you…
I DO…
Because I made you and I love you.

I chose you. And from the day I let you go
I waited…
for you to chose Me back.

On that day all of heaven rejoiced!
But I cried with incredible relief and joy
because I am Your Dad.

Nothing thrills My heart more
than when you look to Me and call Me your Father.
Do it more.

And don’t stop doing it.
Even when you feel badly about yourself,
your decisions, and your sins.

Run to Me.
Tell Me that you love Me.
Ask Me to forgive you. Ask Me to help you.

And watch Me
take your biggest mess
and make it your greatest blessing!

Don’t forget Who I AM…

And don’t forget Whose you are.
I was the first to see you smile.

It’s so easy to hear something about someone – especially if it is super negative - and regurgitate it others.

One reason people don’t like “born again” Christians, is that some boast of a new heart and knowing Jesus – but tear down others with their tongues.

Whether on accident or as a habit, we have all slipped at some time.

But it’s the habitual gossip (and self-appointed judge) that most people despise….

And if someone says something ugly about a friend of yours to you, it’s your responsibility to shut it down.

Like many other times in history, this world seems to be careening out of control. But God is still on the throne. And i pray that His Light shines in the darkness to produce Truth and Peace in all of our lives.

i wrote this poem in the middle of the night on the balcony of a ship - when pain wouldn't allow me to sleep. Looking at the vastness of the ocean, with the wind in my hair, i was awestruck by a Majestic God Who created the world.

“O LORD, Our Lord, how MAJESTIC is Your Name in all the earth!”
(Psalm 8:1; Psalm 8:9; Psalm 104)

Lightening illuminates
thunder roars
the wind whispers
an eagle soars

Flowers bow down
heavy with dew
stars twinkle
in awe of You

Mountains salute
children dance
the flat stone skips
the deer prance

Moonlight shines
the darkness away
sunlight warms
to greet the day

The butterfly flutters
the cactus blooms
the desert stands still
the sea gull swoons

The song of life
sings the crashing surf
“Lord, how majestic is Your Name
in all the earth!”

The lion roars
the slow clouds pass
snow falls
then spring at last

A new year cheers
the sunrise today
a rainbow appears
as if to say

“Your Majesty,
Your Greatness still
is sung by air, water and hill!”

The lullaby of life
The hymn of birth
“Lord, how majestic is Your Name
in all the earth!”
