Hello all,
Please look at Ps 40... In the opening verses 1-3 we see David waiting patiently on the Lord to answer his prayers and God does just that. David states that God pulled him out of the pit of destruction and miry clay setting his feet on a firm foundation. God's word is clear that prayer is both powerful and important in our lives but do you think it is conditional? Does it matter who is calling out to God? Does God hear/answer everyone's prayers? Some people say yes while others say no... What do you think (explain)? Using verses within this 40th Psalm what does David imply? How should this impact our life and expectation of our prayers? I look forward to hearing your thoughts...

Good Tuesday afternoon everyone,
Last weeks reading included Ps 41-45. If you notice 3 of the 5 are attributed to the Sons of Korah although, I believe that 43 seems to be also despite not being directly assigned due to the continuation of the thought. If you do a quick search in (Num 16-17, Jude 11), you'll find that Korah was one of the men who instigated a rebellion against Moses and was swallowed up by the ground for punishment. His sons, who we find in (Num 26:9-11) were spared by God are the ones who wrote these beautiful words of faith in Him. Looking at Ps42, I find it interesting that the writer starts off pointing to how much me longs for God's presence, "as a deer pants for the water," and then follows with two sets of questions serving as book ends for this chapter. The first (vs 3,10) from an enemy towards the reader, "Where is your God?" and the other towards himself (vs 5,11, 43:5), "Why are you in despair, O my soul?" Why do you think the writer brings up these specific questions? What is his answer?... and in what way do you think it relates to you?

In Ps 40:1 David states, "I waited patiently for the Lord..." Despite David's trust in God and the Father's ultimate deliverance of him in the past, the fact that he had to "patiently wait" should not missed on us. David now suffering again, due to his own sin (vs 12), calls for God to have compassion and deliver him. Once again, despite David's confidence that the Lord will save him, we see him left waiting and asking in (vs 17) "do not delay". Have you ever found yourself waiting on the Lord's deliverance from trial or suffering? What might be some reasons why God may make us endure trials and "patiently wait" on Him?

Greeting all,
I pray you are all well. Looking at the Ps 23, we find a beautiful and well known Psalm, often quoted and for good reason. It is a Psalm that should bring us comfort as we can be assured that God is faithful to be with us, guide us and strengthen us throughout life. That said, the timeframe being highlighted in this verse is during our most painful times and trials. Verse 4, says "even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil." Did you notice that despite David's great faith and reliance in God, he still finds himself walking through tremendous hardship and pain? As Christians, we should take courage that God is always faithfully caring for us and helps us overcome trials, but have you ever wondered why God doesn't just prevent us from even having to endure trials or suffering? Although we never want to have to suffer can you give three reasons why suffering is actually beneficial for the Christian?

Last week's reading from Chapter 10-14 of Psalm seem to be a call to God for help during time of distress and trial. If you notice in each of the chapters the writer laments the fact that the wicked are attacking from every corner and seem to be unchecked. Feelings of depression and frustration are highlighted throughout these chapters as the writer calls for God to take action against the evil. Have you ever felt this way? Sometimes it may feel as the wicked are always prevailing and God is absent, but, is that really the case? Obviously the writer has not lost faith in God as he continues to call to Him and point out that God is faithful and will render justice. Share one or two scriptures that give you strength in times of trial and depression.

Good Afternoon all,
Since we have been going through the book of Psalms in our daily bible reading, I wanted to start posting a few questions for us to ponder as we go through the week... Ponder it and reply to the post. I will continue doing this weekly and am looking forward to your responses. God bless.

1. The blessed man in Ps 1:1, is spoken about as one who does not "walk in the counsel of the wicked, stand in the seat of the sinner not sit in the seat of the scoffer"... How would we apply this in our daily lives?

2. According to this Chapter, what are the ways we are able to avoid withering spiritually and instead be productive and prosperous for God?

3. What types of fruit do you think we as Christian we are called to bear physically or spiritually (back-up with a bible verse) and tell me ways the individual can achieve this.
