The Chair of St. Peter, celebrating at The Ordinariate of The Chair of St. Peter. What a beautiful evening of music and fellowship. The reception was an opportunity to visit and enjoy the delicious hospitality that is Our Lady of the Atonement. The pieces selected by Michal Novenko reminded me of my Czech grandmother and her stories of "Bohemia"

This Lent I've discerned for my best Lent ever I will do my best to make daily Holy Mass and Adoration. We are so blessed in the San Antonio, Texas area to have Holy Mass throughout the day from 6am to 6pm, and as late as 10pm on Sunday at University Chapel.

There are many examples of people who have physical restrictions, transportation restrictions and they show up! They make the Holy Mass their goal no matter what obstacles are before them. I can recount so many of their stories over the years. I'm sharing one story at the onset of Lent.

There is a very kind man that I have seen over the years at St. Brigid Parish. He was the parishioner who served at Holy Mass at the back row working the audio and the video control equipment. Looked like a DJ managing it all. Then one day I went to Holy Mass there and a different person was at the controls. Then he arrived, I do not know his name or what caused his new need to be restricted to a wheelchair. However I see him and pray for him as he boldly adjusted and makes his way in his motorized wheelchair to daily Holy Mass. Here he is making his way down the road, against all odds, he will make it! He is a CHAMPION, and a strong witness to us all. Saints amoung us. He inspired me to make this Holy Lent Offering, 40 days of Holy Mass & Adoration.

2026 Challenge - Read the Bible cover to cover, again.

As we begin a new year, I suggest you read through the Bible, and familiarize yourself with the concept of covenant, which is the central thread woven in all of Scripture. Indeed it is rightly called “the master-theme of the Bible.”

So what is a Covenant? A Covenant is a sacred kinship bond between two parties, ratified by swearing an oath. Two examples of Covenant would be Marriage and adoption. The Covenant is the means by which God unites His will to ours - through Jesus and Mary - to father the human family thoughout salvation history.

”God the Father, through a series of covenants, has moved from dealing with one couple—Adam and Eve—to the whole world. Each step along the way has moved us further up the pathway to heaven... Viewing the history of salvation through the lens of covenant helps us to see the fatherly wisdom and power of God, and will offer a clearer perspective on the human family.”

This is only a brief description of a Covenant. To learn more I suggest you read “A Father who Keeps his Promises” or get started simply by reading the entry for Covenant in the Catholic Bible Dictionary https://amzn.to/3qGGaMD

Here’s a timeline that highlights God's plan to father his growing family in the periods of salvation history (taken from “A Father Who Keeps His Promises: God’s Covenant Love in Scripture,” p. 34) https://amzn.to/3EQ65GG
