Come and Go Prayer Vigil
Today 12:00pm to 1:30 in the Sanctuary

Please join us either in person or online for a service of prayer and reflection today from noon to 1:30 PM. Participants can come and go as needed. The liturgy will include prayers, readings, and silence.

Watch the Vigil Live Starting at Noon

Merciful God, you gather all who suffer in your loving embrace. Come, dwell with those who lost loved ones to yesterday’s gun violence. Comfort them in every heartache, every gasp for breath, every bit of their fury. With tenderness, console them in the hours of their need. In your compassion, and by your mercy, heal their torn hearts and lives—and restore them to fullness of life. Amen.

Now that you have met all of our confirmation & reaffirmation candidates, plan to join us as The Rt. Rev. David Reed presides over this once-a-year service as members of the parish receive the sacrament of confirmation and we baptize a little one. Come dressed casually for a picnic in Travis Park following the service.
We recommend you bring lawn chairs or blankets and sun screen. We will create some shade with pop up tents.

Lunch and desserts will be catered by food trucks, and there will be balloons, face painting, and inflatables for kids to enjoy. Families of children who might partake in the water slide may wish to bring a change of clothes!

Introducing the St. Mark's 2022 Confirmands:

My name is Margaret Raney and I was born in San Antonio and have lived here all my life. I am in 8th grade at Alamo Heights Junior School and will be attending Alamo Heights High School in the fall. At St. Mark’s, I acolyte on a regular basis and especially love volunteering at the Day of Prayer & Service. My favorite thing to do is participate in Christmas to the Street in December. I am a member and the current president of the National Charity League Rose Chapter and National Junior Honor Society which gave me the opportunity to volunteer at a variety of organizations through San Antonio. I competitively play tennis and have been on the AHJS team for the past two years. I also love to swim and run. I am an avid reader and love to bake any day of the week. My favorite place to spend time is at Folly Beach, South Carolina. I really value St. Mark’s and the families that attend here. It’s very meaningful to me that I am being confirmed at the same church where I was baptized. I love our Christmas Eve and Easter services and cannot imagine celebrating those special days anywhere else.

Introducing the St. Mark's 2022 Confirmands:

My name is Katie Allison and I was born and raised in San Antonio. I am in 8th grade at Alamo Heights Junior School and next year will be a freshman at Alamo Heights High School. I am involved in acolyting at St. Mark’s and my favorite position on the team is as the second cross. One of my favorite things about St. Mark’s is taking communion during services. I play the piano and violin and also participate in track, tennis, and cross country. In confirmation classes, I learned that the Episcopal church is the ‘via media’ of Christianity, or the middle way.

Introducing the St. Mark's 2022 Confirmands:

My name is Isabella Poyo and I was born in Baltimore, Maryland. I moved to San Antonio shortly after and have grown up here since! I have enjoyed being raised here close to my family and friends. I am currently a junior at the International School of the Americas, located at LEE High School. I regularly attend St. Mark’s worship and have enjoyed being a part of the community service days through my confirmation class. I plan on joining in on upcoming events, especially around the holidays. Outside of church I am a full-time student and athlete and work as a camp counselor over the summer. My main hobby has always been soccer, I have been playing since I was threeand have enjoyed it ever since. I play for both my club team and the LEE Varsity soccer team. I also enjoy art and love spending time with my friends. In confirmation classes I was surprised to learn the extent of acceptance of a great variety of people in the Episcopal church – regardless of political affiliation, sexual orientation, etc. I was grateful for the opportunity to understand the kind of community St. Mark’s fosters. My incredibly busy life had previously prevented me from taking a real look at my spiritual life, and only recently did I express an interest to my parents in getting confirmed in the Episcopal church. My preparation for confirmation has allowed me to explore various aspects of the church and deepen my relationship with God. I am looking forward to taking part in the St. Mark’s community and reaffirming my beliefs.

Introducing the St. Mark's 2022 Confirmands:

My name is Diego Casiano Cruz and I was born and raised in San Antonio. Right now I am in 8th grade at St. George Episcopal School, and next year will attend Central Catholic High School. I like going to church and spending time with the people and community and also enjoyed serving with St. Mark’s at the San Antonio Food Bank. Confirmation classes taught me that there is more to church than just scripture, it is also about our relationships with each other and getting to know God better. In school, Math is my favorite subject and I’m part of a volunteer organization at school called the Beta club. My hobbies include basketball, skiing, playing video games, reading, and riding roller coasters at theme parks. I enjoy traveling with my grandparents and I love that I am the third generation of the Casiano family to attend St. Mark’s, it is a very important place to our family.

Introducing the St. Mark's 2022 Confirmands:

My name is Zachariah Linson and I was born in San Antonio and have lived here all of my life. I am currently a freshman at Medina Valley High School. At church I serve as an acolyte and have also participated in choir and youth group. I enjoy helping out with the Day of Prayer and service. It also has been fun to go from being an egg hunter at the annual Easter Egg Hunt to now hiding the eggs for the younger ones. I really love serving at Christmas to the Street every year. I have traveled to several other states and have enjoyed taking cruises with my family in the summer. I like playing video games, really like fishing, and love playing basketball for my school. In confirmation classes I learned that in the Nicene Creed when it says, “I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church” it is really talking about how we are one as a family and I like that. I want the people of St. Mark’s to know that this church is extremely special to me and my family.
