Since Wednesday we have had the opportunity to work at Epworth Children and Family Services. We helped with some landscaping and painting. The youth did a great job and worked hard. On Thursday we sang at two nursing homes at both the assisted living and memory care areas. I wish you all could experience these youth in the nursing homes. They did this so well with singing for them and with them. The most beautiful part is to watch the conversations that take place once the singing is finished. They come away with amazing stories. After singing we spent a little time at the zoo. It was hot but good to be outside in the open. Our devotionals have continued to take us on a journey of our emotions through the Psalms. We heard from Pastor Stephanie Lind Schlimm on envy and Pastor Reed on disgust. The conversations each night are rich and vulnerable. Today, Friday we play. We will visit the Gateway Arch and The City Museum. A good way to close out our time in St Louis. Thank you for continuing to pray for our young people and the trip. We are on day four of the New Zion Mission Trip. On Tuesday we worked with Operation Food Search and helped clean up bins for food to be taken and distributed. Then we sang at Athene Nursing Home. The residents were lovely people who loved having the youth sing and visit with them. We have heard from Pastor Janet on fear and pastor Jason on Anger. Our lessons with the Psalms have given rich conversations in our small group. We are looking forward to serving today at Epworth Family and Children Services. We look forward to continuing to share our trip with you all.

NZ Day 1: On Sunday we spent the night in Oklahoma City. Last night our devotional was about Joy using Psalm 100. Nona talked to us about how Joy is always there but sometimes it gets buried or hidden in our other emotions. But the good news is that once we work through other emotions Joy is able to make its way to the surface. We know that Joy is not manufactured or the result of circumstance but is always a part of our being. One of the gifts that God has blessed us with. Today we are traveling and enjoying some bus games on our way to St. Louis. Alamo Heights United Methodist Church
