Before our partners head out with food to serve others, we take time to pray together and thank God for the opportunity to be part of what He is doing in our community.

Prayer doesn't replace the hard work of feeding families, building relationships, and equipping people to thrive. It helps keep us grounded as we do that work. It reminds us to serve with humility, depend on God's wisdom, and keep our focus on the people we have the privilege of serving.
We're grateful for every volunteer, partner, donor, and supporter who joins us in this mission each day.

Stories of Hope from our Ministry Partners

We met Robin, a single mom, when she started coming to our food pantry for assistance last year. Robin has three beautiful children, but like many single mothers in our community, she was struggling to afford groceries and she lacked the support she needed in raising her kids.
We invited Robin to join us for our Raising Highly Capable Kids class that was sponsored by Daily Bread. In the class, Robin grew in her confidence and found the support system she so desperately needed in the other parents who attended with her.
When graduation day came, it was such a blessing to hear her share in her own words how much the class had impacted her life. But, the best part was seeing her three children and how proud they were of their mother.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free, and courage often comes at a great cost.

As Christians, we also remember the words of Jesus in John 15:13:
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

Today we honor those who served with bravery, grieve with the families who carry that loss, and pray for peace, unity, and gratitude in our nation.

We are incredibly grateful for these homeschool families from Community Bible Church

Month after month, they faithfully serve alongside us by helping sort product that will go directly to our ministry partners serving on the front lines of poverty in San Antonio, Houston, and Corpus Christi.

Their willingness to give their time and work with joy is helping resources move into the hands of ministries that are caring for people and sharing the love of Christ every day.

Please join us in thanking them for their faithful support.

At Daily Bread, we believe biblical poverty alleviation is not simply about meeting physical needs. It is about seeing lives, families, and communities reconciled to God and to one another.

Reconciliation begins with prayer.

That is why prayer is not something we do before ministry. It is the foundation of our ministry.

Each quarter, our Prayer Coordinator, Mike Tevebaugh, gathers ministry partners from across our community for a Night of Prayer as we come together to seek the Lord and pray for reconciliation throughout our city, our state, and our nation.

We believe lasting transformation happens when the people of God unite in prayer and ask Him to heal what only He can heal.

Great things happen when Kingdom-minded people come together.

A few weeks ago, our Partner Relations Coordinator, Blanca, met with our ministry partners at Missioncitysa and our training partners from STCH Ministries to discuss launching a Faith & Finances course at the church.

This past Wednesday, we saw the first fruit of that meeting as Mission City officially launched the class just before their weekly food pantry outreach. Over the next 11 weeks, individuals and families coming to receive food assistance will also have the opportunity to participate in the Faith & Finances course, where they will learn practical tools for managing their finances while also growing in their understanding of how to honor God through biblical stewardship.

We are thankful for partners who are committed to caring for both the physical and spiritual needs of our community.

Stories Of Hope from our Ministry Partners

When we started with Daily Bread, we took a course they offered called When Helping Hurts. In that course, we learned how every person (no matter how poor) has gifts and abilities that God has given them, and if we want to make a difference, we need to empower those we meet through our food pantry to use their gifts and abilities.
Shortly after we began, we met Angela, a 60-year-old woman who discovered hope through our outreach ministry that provides food and prayer services on the streets of San Antonio. It has been a year since Angela joined us, and she now uses her giftings to assist our team in collecting food from Daily Bread every Wednesday. Her family, including her mother and three grandchildren, have also become partners of the ministry, providing support, and growing in their relationship with the Lord as they use the gifts and abilities they have to glorify Him.

We’re excited to celebrate our ministry partner, First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas as they recently hosted and graduated their first Raising Highly Capable Kids class. We’re grateful to come alongside them in this work and for their commitment to strengthening families and building a brighter future in their community.
