This week’s yth devo is from our YTH team member, Jet. And he says -

“While reading this verse I always thought about why was God not approving of Cain’s offering I mean sure one is meat and one is fruit but they are still giving his hard works worth to God. Maybe God is a meat lover? Who knows but as I was praying and reading this scripture I realized it had nothing to do with the type of altar Cain was putting up it was about obedience. You see, Cain was not putting on the altar what God had asked for and not only that but then went into a pity party and started complaining and I sort of imagine it like Cain saying, “Woe is me my God has favorites and hates my fruits boohoo!” And God comes and says “hey wait a minute I never asked you for the fruit so why are you crying and expecting me to be proud of disobedience”. And sometimes I feel like we can be like Cain and we give God things that He didn’t ask for in our lives because we are avoiding wanting to give Him what He is asking for. Then we start complaining and sulking asking God why aren’t things going well or why doesn’t it feel like He is working. Yet partial obedience is still disobedience! So students to end this devotional I ask you this question what is God asking you give to Him today?”

This yth devo is from our YTH team member, Jet. And he says -

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The context of this verse is King David had just messed up and so he is praying and asking for forgiveness. This verse really caught my eye because sometimes we mess up and we think God could never forgive us for what we did or that God can’t use me anymore after what I did. Yet David prayed asked for a new pure heart and a spirit that is ready to do whatever God called him to do and admitted he messed up. After all that the Bible still mentions the accomplishments that David completed and called him a man after God’s own heart. So don’t ever think God can’t use you anymore because you messed up just pray this verse over yourself and don’t let the lies of the enemy stop you from moving forward towards the plans God has for you and your life!

“All of these virtues are all binded and held together by love”

This week’s devo is from our YTH team member, Calvin. And he says -

“”Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Colossians 3:12-14 NIV

If you look at the Lord, Jesus and the Holy Spirit; what ties everything together is Love. God is Love. He loved us when he built this world, when he created our ancestors, and especially when he sent his Son down to die for our sins.

I chose this verse because it explains and reminds us to hold onto these various virtues: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgive as the Lord forgave us. All of these virtues are all binded and held together by Love.

Lastly, this verse provides just a glimpse of the kind of traits that our Lord, Jesus Christ has within them.”
