Lesson 1

Father, we come to you with hearts willing to learn. We thank you for a PERFECT BOOK that you have given us to help us understand all that you would have us to know. Lord, we get so busy in the life we live, we hear so much about self-empowerment, 'I can do it myself' promotions - and we know Father as your children You want us to depend on you. O Lord, help our unbelief, enlarge our FAITH. In Jesus name, Amen

Remember you will need to copy paste this lesson- to fill in your answers.
INTRODUCTION: True Bible faith is not an emotional "hope-so"; it is real conviction based on the Word of God (Rom. 10:17). The word substance means "assurance" and the word evidence means "proof'. The writer of Hebrews gives us a definite meaning of what faith is: Hebrew 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Through this study you will learn the true and real meaning of faith in God. You will be able to determine where your faith lies. You will ask yourself if you have TRUE BIBLICAL faith in God, or if you are riding on the misconstrued concept of "faith in faith" that is being taught which is based on an emotional basis.

I. FAITH THAT IS MATCHLESS

in Eph. 4:5 The apostle Paul writes: One Lord, one faith, one baptism. True faith in God as we can see in these few short words is MATCHLESS to anything else.

Take a look at the following Scriptures (King James Version), EACH scripture gives an example of how faith works in the life of Believers. Look up each scripture and list what role MATCHLESS faith plays in our lives.

1. It_________ us. John 3:16, 36; 5:24; Rom. 5:1

2. It_________ us. Acts 15:9, 26:18

3. It_________ us. Ephesians 6:16

Further questions:

4. The World recognizes many god's - Is there any way possible that anyone besides God Himself can hold these qualities? (ie, buddah, popes, allah, etc.)

5. Is there any doubt in your heart that " #1" & " #2" have been accomplished in your life?

6. Can you think of a time in your life that can testify of " #3"? If so, please write a paragraph to testify of it.

Learn the art of talking to yourself
This is not the first sign of madness. It is the first sign of spiritual health. You find the practice of talking to yourself all over the Psalms…

When David says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul…” (Psalm 103:1), he is talking to himself. When he asks, “Why are you cast down, O my soul?” (Psalm 42:5), who is he talking to? He is talking to himself.

Learn the art of talking to yourself. Your mind needs to be set. It needs to be told where to go. It needs to be trained like a dog that is taught to “sit” or to “stay.” Your heart will always be a problem. Every Christian must learn to be a preacher to his or her own soul.

“Set upon thy heart roundly, persuade it to the work… Don’t accept any excuses; chide it for its backwardness… bring it to the service willing or not willing… Take up the authority God has given you. Command your heart. If you feel too weak, call in the Spirit of Christ to your assistance.” [7]

“This is what you must do in your meditation to quicken your own heart: Enter into serious debate with it; plead with it in the most moving and affecting language; use the most weighty and powerful arguments.” [8]
