Travis Park United Methodist Church

Travis Park United Methodist Church Travis Park UMC in downtown San Antonio is a vibrant, inclusive church. Experience radical hospitality, serve others, grow in discipleship, find connection, and discover that you don’t have to fit in to belong. Worship at 9:45.

Travis Park Church is a progressive and historic Reconciling United Methodist Congregation, grounded in both history and vision. Organized as a church in 1846, we began worshipping at this site 20 years later at the heart of downtown. We are a church that embraces the value of stories: in them we can find truth, meaning, hope and connection with God and with one another. Travis Park Church is affi

liated with the Reconciling Ministries Network, a group of congregations and groups worldwide which have adopted statements welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. You will not find a stagnant congregation here. You will find a diverse mix of young and old, affluent and unhoused, cisgender and transgender, highly educated and illiterate worshipping side by side as beloved Children of God. We welcome all, affirm all, and advocate justice for all.

Gracious God, by your Spirit and grace, you are with us. Speak to us anew. Open our hearts, that we might hear what you are saying to us today. Amen.

📖 Our Hearts Were Strangely Lukewarm: Small Group Study

You are invited into a conversation about understanding and confronting racism in the American Methodist Church.

Beginning this Sunday, join Dr. Linda Solis for an 11-week small group study based on Our Hearts Were Strangely Lukewarm: The American Methodist Church and the Struggle with White Supremacy.

Drawing directly from the insightful 2023 book by Rev. Dr. John Elford, a retired United Methodist clergy member, the study examines the history of the United Methodist Church in the United States and explores how systemic racism has affected the church’s mission, credibility, and overall witness.

Using resources from the General Commission on Religion and Race, participants will engage in deep reflection and open dialogue about the impact of racism, particularly anti-Black racism, within the church and society. Together, the group will consider how these historical and ongoing struggles within the church reflect broader patterns in the American Christian context.

Our hearts are full. 🎨❤️ Tonight we gathered for an evening of community, creativity, and art with the Joy Division.

It turns out a little paint, a few brushes, and some Bob Ross inspiration are a pretty great recipe for slowing down, laughing together, and enjoying one another.

And, of course, there are no mistakes at Paint Night…just happy little accidents. 🌲✨

We are grateful for ministries that give us space to create, rest, connect, and simply enjoy being together.

Next up from the Joy Division: our 2nd Annual Monster Mash Bash on Sunday, October 25! 👻🎃

Little hands, big hearts. ❤️

The Light Bites table was hosted by the Rightly Made Home Group this Sunday, with a little extra help from some of its youngest members.

Jesus reminds us to come to him with the heart, spirit, and openness of a child. Rightly Made feels especially blessed to have children who are not simply watching the grownups serve, but who know they are valued members of the community, with gifts to share and a place to belong.

Whether filling plates, serving food, or gathering around the table together, everyone has something to offer.

We’re grateful for a church where we can learn from one another, serve alongside one another, and use the gifts God has given us, no matter our age or ability. 🥰

our successes and our failures,
respecting the dignity
of God’s image in us all.
We beckon you to join us
on this journey and
we make a place for you here.
Remember always,
the family of God is your family too. Amen.
