Travis Park United Methodist Church

Travis Park United Methodist Church Meet the community you’ve been missing. Travis Park UMC in downtown San Antonio is a vibrant, inclusive church. Experience radical hospitality, serve others, grow in discipleship, find connection, and discover that you don’t have to fit in to belong.

Travis Park Church is a progressive and historic Reconciling United Methodist Congregation, grounded in both history and vision. Organized as a church in 1846, we began worshipping at this site 20 years later at the heart of downtown. We are a church that embraces the value of stories: in them we can find truth, meaning, hope and connection with God and with one another. Travis Park Church is affi

liated with the Reconciling Ministries Network, a group of congregations and groups worldwide which have adopted statements welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. You will not find a stagnant congregation here. You will find a diverse mix of young and old, affluent and unhoused, cisgender and transgender, highly educated and illiterate worshipping side by side as beloved Children of God. We welcome all, affirm all, and advocate justice for all.

Looking for the best first stop on a Sunday morning? Come see us at the Welcome Desk! 👋

Whether you’re visiting for the first time, looking for a class, wondering where the parking validations have gone, or just trying to figure out where the coffee is, the Welcome Desk is here to help.

This past Sunday was Stephen’s first time serving at the desk, alongside veteran team member Jonathan. We are so grateful for the people who help make Travis Park feel welcoming, friendly, and easy to navigate. 💛

Joy is not fleeting like happiness can be. It is God's gift to us that sustains us even in adversity. The joy of our salvation, the joy of God's unbreakable love, the joy of knowing that our story is not over, can carry us through even the darkest of days. How will you choose joy today?

Have you ever heard the saying, "Try walking in his shoes"?

But what if he didn't have any shoes to begin with? How then can we truly understand the journey he walks every day?

Not too long ago, a gentleman came through our doors wearing only socks. His feet were in severe pain and in need of medical attention. The staff at the Corazón Medical Clinic at Travis Park Church quickly stepped in to care for his feet and provide him with a walker. Unfortunately, when we turned to our Clothing Closet for a pair of shoes, we found our shelves empty.

For many of our street friends, shoes are not simply an accessory—they are a necessity. They walk miles each day to find food, shelter, medical care, employment opportunities, and safety. A good pair of shoes can provide comfort, protection, dignity, and hope.

Today, we are asking for your help.

If you have gently used or new men's or women's shoes, especially walking shoes, sitting in your closet, please consider donating them to someone whose feet could truly use them. Your donation may ease someone's pain, prevent injury, and help them continue their journey with greater confidence and comfort.

Many hands make light work, and they also make the dishes go much faster. 🍽️💛

This Sunday was one of our busiest yet in The Commons, and we are so thankful for a community that shows up.

It takes many hands, many hearts, and a whole lot of faithful teamwork to help meet the needs of our neighbors. On 5th Sundays, St. David’s Episcopal Church, Travis Park Church United Women in Faith, Deborah’s House, Corazon San Antonio, and many others show up to do just that.

Thank you to everyone who stepped into the kitchen, rolled up their sleeves, washed one more pan, poured one more cup of coffee, and helped make this ministry possible.

This is what community looks like.

We need you on the schedule! 💛

New and returning volunteers are invited to sign up for a regular monthly serving spot with our campus ministries.

Come share breakfast. Pour coffee. Fold clothes. Sit for a conversation. Offer presence. Go through special training to become a shower monitor. Or, if you’re like Emily, pictured here, bring a professional skill, like physical therapy, to support neighbors through the Corazon Clinic.

Whether you have served for years or you are ready to try it for the first time, we would love to have you join us.

New? Please sign up at travispark.org/serve and be sure to include your availability.

Ready to come back? Email [email protected] and we'll show you how to sign up for an upcoming date on your favorite serve team.

Getting on the schedule helps us to plan well, fill each position, and make sure our neighbors are well cared for on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

We’ll see you in The Commons!

Last week, our new friends at Texas Biomedical Research Institute dropped off some unexpected snack bags and flip-flops for our neighbors. We are grateful for a community of people and organizations that come together to care for one another through the year.

Texas Biomed's Community Outreach Club spent time at Travis Park delivering care kits to members of the unhoused community.

The kits included essential hygiene items, snacks and other everyday necessities aimed at providing comfort and support to those in need. More importantly, the experience was an opportunity to connect with our San Antonio community through compassion, service and kindness.
