De Colores!

In 1957 two Spanish airmen training in Texas ran a four day retreat at a small church in Waco.

Bernardo Vadell and Agustin Palomino brought it from Mallorca. Father Gabriel Fernandes led it. The church was St. Francis on the Brazos.

It was the first cursillo in the United States. Men sat in a circle for four days and talked about their lives out loud.

The two airmen got moved to Mission, Texas right after the second weekend. The idea kept going anyway.

The first English weekend came in 1961. It spread across Texas, then across the country, mostly through Mexican American parishes.

Help me welcome the 13 new cursillistas who said yes to the Lord by living this Cursillo weekend! What a beautiful witness to the faith, courage and openness to the Holy Spirit. May the love they encountered continue to grow as they journey in their 4th day. Let us continue to pray and support them as a Cursillo family.

And to all Cursillistas, let this be a reminder to us that we must continue to let His light shine through us. That we continue to stay connected through Ultreya and group reunions so that we can stay in grace and continue to live De Colores each day! 🌈🙏🏻🕊️💕

Cursillo Community,

As our Women's Cursillo Weekend begins today, I ask that you please keep the team and all the candidates in your prayers.

Pray that each woman may be open to the profound love of Christ, and return renewed in faith, hope, and love. May the team be guided by wisdom, grace, and servant hearts as they share God's love throughout the weekend.

Your love and support are a beautiful reminder that we are one body in Christ.

De Colores! 🐓 we had a beautiful palanca hour gathering at the Grotto Friday evening! Gregorio lead the 25 of us present in the sorrowful mysteries. We felt our Blessed Mother’s presence as the church bells rang while praying. The women’s team members present were prayed over and the Holy Spirit guided our evening. 🕊️

We will continue this holy hour each month as a way to strengthen our community and our friendships.

We finished the evening by sharing a meal together. And we even had some of our brave cursillistas sing karaoke. 🌈📿🎤🎶
