Storm Recovery Update from The Salvation Army San Antonio.

We are grateful to report that power has been restored at our Area Command and shelter facilities, and everyone in our care remains safe, dry, and accounted for.

While our roof was destroyed and shelter rooms sustained water damage during the recent storms, our team is actively inspecting each room to assess the full extent of the damage and begin the clean-up and repair process. In the meantime, shelter residents have been comfortably relocated to a common area within our building. Our kitchen remains fully functional and operational, allowing us to continue providing meals and support without interruption.

Today, our canteen truck will be deployed into the community to distribute ready-to-eat meals to individuals and families who may have lost food during the power outage. If you or someone you know is in need of a meal, please watch our page for updates on distribution locations.

We are incredibly thankful for the outpouring of support from our community. A special thank you to the Texas Diaper Bank and the SAISD Foundation for their generous donations of new bedding and towels, and to RISE Church for donating sheets for our shelter residents. Your kindness is helping bring comfort, dignity, and hope to those we serve during this challenging time.

Today, we are ready to serve our community. Our canteen truck will be deployed into the community to distribute ready-to-eat meals to individuals and families who may have lost food during the power outage. If you or someone you know is in need of meals, please watch our page for updates on distribution locations.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support as we continue serving our neighbors and helping our community recover.

🙏❤️ Serving Our Community with Love

The Salvation Army San Antonio Area Command was blessed to be invited to participate in the San Antonio Spurs Annual Back-to-School Bash! 🏀🎒

It was a joy to welcome families, share smiles, and serve our community by providing free bottles of water to help keep everyone hydrated during this special event. 💧

At The Salvation Army, we believe that serving others is an opportunity to put our faith into action. We are grateful for every opportunity God gives us to show His love through kindness, compassion, and service.
We pray for all the students, parents, teachers, and families preparing for the new school year. May God bless each of you with a safe, successful, and joy-filled year ahead! 📚✏️

A heartfelt thank you to the San Antonio Spurs for inviting us to be part of this wonderful day and for helping bring our community together.

Today was a meaningful and memorable final worship service at The Salvation Army San Antonio Citadel Corps before we merge with The Salvation Army Mission Corps on June 28, 2026.

It was a special time of honoring the decades of ministry that have taken place within these walls and celebrating the lives that have been impacted through the faithful service of soldiers, officers, and community members. Heartfelt tributes were shared, memories were recounted, and gratitude filled the room as we reflected on God’s faithfulness throughout the years.

Major Missy Romack reminded us that we are surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses”—those who have gone before us, faithfully serving and pointing others to Christ. As one chapter closes and another begins, we move forward with confidence, knowing that the same God who has guided us in the past will continue to lead us into the future.

Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. A day of freedom long delayed, and a reminder of the generations who endured unimaginable injustice.

It is a time to remember, to honor, and to reflect on the lives, stories, and courage of those who fought for liberation.

But Juneteenth also calls us to look honestly at the present, because while slavery was legally abolished, exploitation and modern slavery still exist today, affecting vulnerable individuals and communities across our nation.

The Salvation Army continues that fight today through our anti‑human trafficking programs, walking alongside survivors with love, safety, dignity, compassion, and hope.

We believe honoring the past means choosing how we live today, supporting one another, extending grace, treating every person with respect, and serving in ways that protect freedom and uphold humanity.
