"...ከሙታን የተነሣውን፥ ከዳዊት ዘርም የሆነውን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስን አስብ" 2ኛ ጢሞቲዎስ 2:8

የፕሪስባይቴሪያን የቤተክርስቲያን ሽማግሌ የነበረው ባዝ ኦልድሪን፣ በግል የቅዱስ ቁርባን ሥነ፡ሥርዓት በመፈጸም በጨረቃ ላይ የመጀመሪያውን ቁርባን ያደረገ ሰው ነው። ይህም በጨረቃ ላይ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ምግብ እና መጠጥ የተወሰደበት አጋጣሚ ሆኖ ተመዝግቧል።ለሥነ፡ሥርዓቱ የሚሆኑትን ትንሽ የብር ጽዋ፣ በፕላስቲክ መያዣ ውስጥ ያለ የወይን ፈሳሽ እና ቁራጭ ዳቦ ይዞ የሄደ ሲሆን፣ እነዚህም በቴክሳስ በሚገኘው ቤተክርስቲያኑ "ዌብስተር ፕሪስባይቴሪያን ቸርች" የተዘጋጁ ነበሩ። እ.ኤ.አ. ሐምሌ 20 ቀን 1969 "ኢግል" የተባለችው መንኮራኩር ጨረቃ ላይ ካረፈች ከጥቂት ጊዜ በኋላ፣ እርሱና ኒል አርምስትሮንግ ወደ ጨረቃ ምድር ከመውረዳቸው በፊት፣ ኦልድሪን በግሉ የቅዱስ ቁርባን (የጌታን ዕራት) ሥነ፡ሥርዓቱን አከናውኗል።ይህንን የጌታን እራት ሲወስድ ከመጽህፍ ቅዱስ ክፍል ዩሃንስ 15:5ን ያነብ ነበር ''እኔ የወይን ግንድ ነኝ እናንተም ቅርንጫፎች ናችሁ። ያለ እኔ ምንም ልታደርጉ አትችሉምና በእኔ የሚኖር እኔም በእርሱ፥ እርሱ ብዙ ፍሬ ያፈራል።''
ወገኖች ይህ የጠፈር ተመራማሪ ይህንን በክርስቶስ ስጋና ደም የተመሰለውን ህብስትና ወይን በጨረቃ ላይ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ለመታሰቢያ እንዳደረገው ዛሬም ክርስቶስ ኢየሱስ በረገጥነው ቦታ ሁሉ የመጀመሪያው ይሁን።በመጨረሻም የክርስቶስን ሞት፣ስቅለትና ትንሳኤ ዘወትር በየደረስንበትና ባለንበት ከፍታና ዝቅታ ሁሉ ማሰብና ማሰላሰል ይሁንልን።

Buzz Aldrin, who was a Presbyterian church elder, was the first person to take communion on the moon by performing a private Holy Communion ceremony. This is recorded as the first time food and drink were ever consumed on the lunar surface. He carried a small silver cup, wine in a plastic container, and a piece of bread for the ceremony, all of which were prepared by his church in Texas, "Webster Presbyterian Church." On July 20, 1969, shortly after the lunar module "Eagle" landed on the moon and before he and Neil Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface, Aldrin privately performed the Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper) ceremony.During his private ceremony, he read John 15:5: "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me."

Beloved, just as this astronaut first partook of the bread and wine—symbolizing the body and blood of Christ—as a memorial on the moon, let Jesus Christ be the "First" today in every place we step. Finally, may we always remember and meditate upon the death, crucifixion, and resurrection of Christ in every height and depth we reach.
