🔥 DAY 9: NOVENA TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS 🔥

Dear Family of St. Michael’s,

Welcome to the final day of our parish novena. Over these past nine days, we have brought our families, our trials, and our hopes to the furnace of Christ's love.
Today, we conclude our journey by contemplating the Sacred Heart as the ultimate source of radical hospitality and eternal refuge.

In our Dominican heritage, the final word is always sent—we are sent out to preach the truth (Veritas) of God's boundless love. As an Old Catholic parish, our mission is to ensure that the open heart of Jesus is mirrored in the open doors of St. Michael’s. Let us pray today that our community remains a permanent sanctuary where the weary find rest, the forgotten find a family, and every soul experiences the unconditional grace of God.

🕯️ DAY 9 PRAYERS 🕯️
❖ Opening Prayer
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare your praise. Lord Jesus, we come to the fountain of Your grace. Like our holy mother St. Catherine, we desire to hide ourselves within Your sacred wounds and to drink deeply from the wellspring of Your love. Fuel our minds with Your truth and ignite our hearts with Your charity, so that what we ponder in silence, we may courageously preach to the world. Amen.

❖ Day 9 Intention: For Radical Hospitality and the Mission of St. Michael's
Lord Jesus, Your Sacred Heart is the eternal home for all mankind. On this final day of our novena, we pray for the permanent mission of St. Michael’s Catholic Parish. May we never grow complacent, and may our doors always remain as wide open as Your pierced heart.
We lift up to You our final novena petitions, our homes, our children, and our growing families. (Pause a moment for your personal intentions)... Take our prayers, imperfect as they are, and seal them within Your heart. Grant us the grace to go forth from this novena as bold preachers of Your infinite mercy.

❖ Act of Consecration
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Fountain of every blessing, I adore You, I love You, and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer You this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure, and wholly obedient to Your will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in You and for You. Within Your heart, there is room for all. May our parish always reflect that infinite space, welcoming the stranger and comforting the broken. Amen.

Spiritual Logistics: Jesus’ Marching Orders for Peace

The Gospel of Matthew 5:20-26 cuts straight to the heart of what it means to live a life of true integrity and faith. When Jesus warns his disciples that their righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, He isn’t merely asking for more meticulous rule-following. The scribes and Pharisees were the ultimate rule-followers of their day; they had the external rituals down to an exact science....

Let us pray today for a spirit of profound thankfulness, recognizing the many blessings, large and small, that the Lord pours out upon us every day.

The Elevation of Truth: Contemplating the Real Presence at St. Michael’s

At St. Michael’s Catholic Parish, within the rich tradition of the Unified Old Catholic Church, we embrace the Dominican charism—a life dedicated to Veritas (Truth) and the contemplation of the Divine. When you witness the elevation of the Sacred Host during Mass, you are participating in a profound moment of Dominican spirituality: contemplare et aliis contemplata tradere (to contemplate and to deliver to others the fruits of contemplation)....

The Heartbeat of the Law: Moving from Checklist to Love

In the Gospel of Matthew today (5:17-19), Jesus makes a statement that must have turned a lot of heads in the crowd: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." To understand the "story behind the story" and why Jesus felt compelled to say this, we have to look at the tense religious climate of first-century Judea....

🔥 DAY 7: NOVENA TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS 🔥

Dear Family of St. Michael’s,

Welcome to Day 7 of our parish novena. Today, we contemplate the Sacred Heart of Jesus as a burning furnace of justice, integrity, and public service.

In our Dominican tradition, we speak the truth (Veritas) not only in the quiet of the sanctuary, but out in the public square. Christ’s heart beats with a deep love for justice and a profound desire to protect the vulnerable. As an Old Catholic community, we recognize that true faith manifests as a life of integrity, dedicated to serving our neighbors with honor, fairness, and unwavering commitment. Let us pray today for all public servants, leaders, and those who work daily to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities.

❖ Day 7 Intention: For Justice, Integrity, and Public Service
Lord Jesus, Your Sacred Heart is the mirror of divine justice and the protector of the innocent. Today, we pray for all those who serve the public—first responders, law enforcement, military personnel, and community leaders. Grant them the integrity to stand for what is right, the strength to protect the vulnerable, and the grace to serve with true compassion.

We lift up to Your Heart our personal intentions, our families, and our parish ministries. (Pause a moment for your personal intentions)... Teach us to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with You, making our lives a testament to Your righteous love.

Salt of the Earth and Light of the World: Living the Gospel Every Day

In today’s Gospel from Matthew 5:13-16, Jesus looks at His disciples and uses two incredibly common, everyday items to describe their highest calling: salt and lamps. To fully understand the weight of His words, we have to step back into the ancient world of first-century Judea. In Jesus' time, salt wasn't just a casual seasoning sitting in a shaker on a table; it was an absolute necessity for survival....
