AMAZING GIFTS!
By Lakan Mariano

Knowing Christ is much, much more than getting a ticket to heaven for future use.

You get a new heart.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

When you put your faith in Christ, you get all that God is.

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness” (Colossians 2:9-10).

In Christ, you have access to all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

“… all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2-3).

These are just a few of the realities in the life of the believer because of Christ. And there is so much more. All a gift. All by grace. Nothing we earned. So our hearts can simply respond in worshipful praise.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or understand, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).

THE OLD PLAYGROUND
By Rachel Calloway

There stands a playground,
iron and upright,
Three silver slides
catching Sunday light.
One curled like a ribbon,
tall and wild,
where once I rode
as a fearless child.

We slid down
hot and burning steel,
Believing our imagined worlds
were real.
My momma’s laughter,
loud and bright
Still lingers
in the fading light.

My children climb
the same high flight,
The twisty slide
that kisses the light.
Their laughter drifts
like songs through the air,
As if the past
still lingers there.

The bolts unwind,
the frame comes down,
its shadows
folding to the ground.
And Christ,
who gathers every tear
Has not forgotten
who was here.

And there,
beyond what we have known,
He builds a joy
we call our own
Where every loss
is made untrue,
and all things broken
are made new.

HOME
By Lakan Mariano

There is no place like home.

I enjoy traveling. I love getting introduced to different foods. When I traveled for business years ago, I was focused on the task at hand. But as soon as I finished what I needed to do, I could not wait to get home to Kim and the kids.

Home. Where you are accepted. And loved. Nothing spectacular, but everything profoundly meaningful. The ordinariness of everyday life lived and shared together. The quiet hugs. Laughter. Meals where not only food is enjoyed but where you savor the time together.

Moses never had a home.

Moses grew up in Pharaoh’s house. Then he spent the next forty years of his life living in the wilderness. There in the wilderness of Midian, he even named his son Gershom, for he said, “I have been a stranger in a foreign land” (Exodus 18:3). Then God called him to save the Israelites from Egyptian bo***ge. For the next forty years he led them in wilderness.

But Moses understood something important. He knew he had a permanent address.

“Lord, through all the generations
you have been our home!” (Psalm 90:1).

When you are tired of your wanderings, you can find a home in Jesus Christ. Jesus said,

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Fresh stories of God’s amazing works stir us to rejoice. They remind us that the hidden advances of Christ’s kingdom are often the most important events in history.
