I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow in his hands.

So lead me to still waters where I can find rest in knowing You have it all figured out.

Rest in the fact that we serve an omnipotent and sovereign God who loves you more than you can ever comprehend.

“Just tell us plainly- are you Christ?”

Jesus responds with (in summary):
“I’ve already told you. You were not paying attention. My sheep know my voice and they listen, but you do not.” -John 10:24-30

So often, we ask God for clear signs and for him to “just tell me what I should do.”

What if he’s already telling us and we’re not listening? What if he’s already making it very clear and it’s us who are not paying attention?

Pay attention to all around you and you’ll see that God is already talking to you in so many different ways.

As he’s talking about his sheep, the ones who know his voice, he says, “I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one can sn**ch them out of my hand.”

I try my hardest to listen and follow my shepherd, but some days my mind is too loud and I wander.

But praise God for the promise that as long as I know his voice, nothing can ever sn**ch me away from his love and grace.

How are you hearing and seeing God’s love and grace today?

Where is your faith?

The disciples found themselves in a severe storm and woke up Jesus with their screams of fear “we’re going to drown!”

Jesus simply calmed the storm without fuss or anger. However, he turned to the frightened men and asked “where is your faith?”

Faith is having the belief to put it in God’s hands and then trusting him to take care of it.

The storm will come. We will find ourselves in situations we never asked for or never wanted but the story is not in the storm.

The story is in the faith we have to believe that God will handle it and trusting him to do so while we hang on to our peace and knowing that everything will ultimately be okay—because it will, we have a place prepared for us for eternity.

Don’t scream out in fear. Wake up Jesus and tell him about your storm and have Faith that it will be calmed.

John 3:16 can be seen as the true definition of love, but that can be a lot to digest for a young mind or even a young Christian.

So how do we define and explain love?

We don’t. We show it.

Love is not easily explained or described, but we can demonstrate it everyday. We can call, write, listen, ask questions, show up in support, pray, help, compliment, hold a hand through a tough time…and so many other ways.

“They will know you are my disciples by the WAY you love one another.” He didn’t say by the best explanation or by the best definition but “by the way you do it.”

Every small act of kindness, both given and received, helps us to deepen our understanding of Love and the ultimate love God has for each one of us.

Go show kindness to all of God’s creatures.

You’d think somebody would call them and check on them.
You’d think somebody would stop by and lend a hand.
You’d think somebody would invite them to church.
You’d think somebody would be praying with them and helping them to know Jesus.
You’d think somebody would be creating new programs to draw the youth into the church.
You’d think somebody would be planning volunteer activities for the community.
You’d think somebody would…

What if that somebody is me?

“Who told you?”

God asked Adam this question when he told God he was naked in the garden.

God instantly knew that someone else had intervened in Adam’s life. God knew that he had created Adam to know he was good, kind, and loved. Now that Adam was privy to different information, God knew it didn’t come from him.

God knew us before we were born, knitted us together in our mother’s womb and formed us in his own image. So he tells us we ARE good, kind, and loved.

When you begin to feel any other way about yourself, the question is “who told you those things?” Because it wasn’t God.

Stop listening to others and hear the voice of God. You are very well loved.

Jacob desired Rachel. Jacob worked years to marry her. Jacob loved Rachel.

Yet, Leah fulfilled the prophecy.

Leah gave birth to Judah and Jesus came from the line of Judah.

God’s plan will always prevail. There is nothing you can do to keep God from his sovereignty.

All the personal desires we have will never and can never get in the way of God’s ultimate plan.

Watch God work.

When Paul said “I have learned to be content in all situations,” he wasn’t just talking about the good. He was talking about the bad and ugly too.

He was talking about learning to be content even in the depths of the darkest struggles.

Two emotions can exist simultaneously. You can feel pain and sadness while also feeling joy and peace. You can feel sad for your situation but have a peace that surpasses all understanding because you’re filled with the joy of the Lord.

This is why he continues to say “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

I can do ALL things, even being content in my hardest struggles, because of Christ.

I can handle my struggles because of God. I can be content because of God. I can move forward because of God.

Flow with the living water.
