Earlier this week we had some young volunteers come and place the American flags at the headstones of our three war veterans. Chuck Colton, Katie Morris and her daughters Jaina and Ollie also planted marigolds around the entrance to the cemetery. Now the Historic Old Saltsburg Cemetery will be looking good for visitors for this Memorial Day weekend and throughout the year. We thank everyone who helps keep this cemetery looking good for Saltsburg.

On Tuesday April 29th, a severe storm with 80 mph straight line winds moved across Pennsylvania causing damage all over our area. The power was out for days and in some areas for a week. The Old Saltsburg Cemetery had over a dozen trees toppled over, only causing minor movement to two headstones. A few days later, volunteers started the clean-up process with others willing to help in the future. Over the next few weeks or so, volunteers will carefully cut down and clean up the trees and branches. The two stones will also be reset. Thank you to everyone who has helped.

The Old Saltsburg Cemetery has new flags on its veterans grave stones. It was also recently mowed by volunteers and new signs replaced the old ones. This old burial ground is looking good for visitors on this Memorial Day. Remembering those who served.
