Family, I want to speak on something important tonight. As followers of Christ, we have to be careful not to let gossip, offense, or accusation take root in our hearts. The truth always comes to light, and adding more words to a fire only keeps it burning longer. Sometimes the wisest thing we can do is stop feeding the flames and allow them to burn out on their own.
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 10:11-14 to go where they were received, remain there, and if people would not receive them, to shake the dust off their feet and move on. He did not tell them to argue, fight, gossip, or tear one another down. He told them to bless and walk away.
We must remember what scripture says in Matthew 5:44: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”
What example do we set if we claim Christ with our mouths but respond to conflict the same way the world does? Gossip, division, anger, and false accusations do not glorify God. They only create more hurt and confusion.
Our minds can become dangerous places if we allow assumptions, emotions, and offense to take control. That is why we must walk in love, patience, prayer, and truth. Not every accusation deserves a response. Not every fire needs more wood added to it.
As believers, we are called to rise above these things. To pray instead of attack. To forgive instead of divide. To love even when it is difficult. The enemy thrives in confusion and division, but Christ calls us to unity, peace, and grace.
Let us guard our tongues, guard our hearts, and remember that the way we treat others reflects the condition of our walk with God
