Sometimes it becomes necessary to deal with issues that are uncomfortable to deal with. Not only for the congregation, but for the Pastor also. But disregarding or ignoring them only leads to further problems down the road for everybody concerned.
Last night in our business meeting was one of those times. I didn’t sleep very well last night thinking about while it may have been easier to forget the issue, or save it for the next pastor who comes when I leave….it just had to be addressed.
What is the issue you’re referring to preacher? It’s church membership….whether or not you leave a bloated membership roll alone or you try to get it right so a pastor knows the members God has given him to try to lead, shepherd and serve.
I know some left the church last night, not angry, but frustrated. Well, I did too. But that’s just the way it goes between a pastor and the congregation sometimes.
If you’re a member who sees this and you are not attending regularly or not at all, I encourage you to get back in and help us. If you no longer wish to be a part, send me a text or email and I will print it out for the church to deal with. But please, time is running out for us to be a work man for the Lord through the church that He established.
To the members who faithfully come week after week. You are a blessing and I thank you for your faithfulness.
To the members who have withdrawn, I love you also and want you to return to the fellowship of the body that you wanted to be a part of.
Submitted respectfully,
Scott Witcher
