Here’s a “Throwback Thursday” that some of you may remember. Enjoy!
CLASS OF 1949 By Jewell McAfee
We left the halls of Saltillo High
In nineteen forty-nine
And headed out to face the world
And didn't have a lot of time.
The country needed our great minds
To get it's problems solved
So some of us went right to work
And really got involved.
There were those that got married
They listened to their hearts
While others went to college
And added to their smarts.
But no matter what we've done in lite
Or where we settled down
It's great to get together
Here in our hometown.
Reunions mean a good time
And this is a special one
Some have traveled a long way
To get in on all the fun.
This year we're up to 40
But we know one thing for shore
We graduated very young
So we're good for many more.
Some are no longer with us
But they aren't really gone
For in our hearts their memories
Will always linger on.
For those of us who've gathered here
At this point in time
Remember, we'll be together
Then years on down the line.
For '99 will be the great one
When the big five 0 comes around
We all must get together then
And really paint the town.
I know friends are important
And classmates especially so
So I wish you God's full blessing
Wherever you may go.
