The mural of Christ the Good Shepherd was completed by Moon Whittaker in the sanctuary today. It is wonderful to see people come forward with their gifts and talents in this season. Thank you, Moon!

Christ's Ascension is his Coronation Day. This is the day that Jesus was seated at the right hand of God, as our King. He reigns as King over the entire world, ruling over all things in heaven and on earth (Eph 1:20-23). We don't vote him into office, but submit to him as a good King. Second, this is the day that Jesus ascends as our High Priest, who lives to make intercession for us (Hebrews 7:25). Finally, when we look at Christ's ascension, we see God's goal for us, as our union with him means that we ascend with him to the heavenly places (Eph 2:6). Our desire for glory is fulfilled in our union with Jesus. 

Collect for the Ascension: Almighty God, whose only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven: May our hearts and minds also there ascend, and with him continually dwell; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Saint Bernard Breviary arrived today and it is absolutely stunning. Praying God uses it to grow the Office and the Scriptures in many hearts.
