Final post I will make - as Elder Strate was sealed over the weekend to his beautiful wife.
Mission has been over for almost 2 years, onto the next phase of his life. Going to BYU Provo, completed two years. God is good.

From President Spendlove today-
Dear family and friends of the Great Utah Salt Lake City Mission,
Lately I have had several missionaries comment to me about how they were "talking to" their mom or brother or friend on P-day (preparation day). When I've asked what they mean by "talking to" they've said, "Oh -- you know... we exchange emails back and forth... my mom knows when I'm going to email and she's there to chat with me."
As much as we love and miss our missionaries while they're gone -- we've sent three sons of our own out -- "chatting" with them by email on P-days is not appropriate. They should write you a letter and send it by email and you should respond by letter that you send by email. Like back in the day before email! "Talking to" parents and family is reserved for skyping on Mother's Day and Christmas.
Their call letter and the missionary handbook both say, "You will also be expected to devote all your time and attention to serving the Lord, leaving behind all other personal affairs. As you do these things, the Lord will bless you and you will become an effective advocate and messenger of the truth.”
Please help our missionaries leave behind all other personal affairs by not communicating with them on P-days other than to send a response to their letter from the week before.
Again from the Missionary Handbook: "Write to your family each week on preparation day. Limit correspondence with others. Share your spiritual experiences. ... Do not become preoccupied with communicating with family and friends."
One of the greatest joys of having our sons serving was when they would ask for my counsel or advice in their weekly email home. By responding the following Monday, I had a week to ponder and pray about what counsel I could give my sons.
I invite you to find the lasting joy and satisfaction of such communication with your missionaries and write a letter each week -- not texts.
Thanks for helping our missionaries be consecrated and focused on their purpose of inviting and helping others come unto Christ.

We said farewell to this group of wonderful missionaries last week! We love them and miss them greatly. May the Lord bless and prosper them as they go forward in life!
