Hello Calvary Salt Lake Family,
What an amazing year we have had here at Calvary. As we approach the end of another year, it is with immense joy and gratitude that I write to you, reflecting on the remarkable journey we have taken together as a church family over this year.
Through both triumphs and challenges, we have witnessed the unfailing love and faithfulness of God. His promises have been our anchor, and His grace has sustained us through every trial. I am reminded of Psalm 34:8, which declares, "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him." Indeed, we have tasted and seen the goodness of the Lord in our midst.
Throughout this year, we have experienced spiritual growth, seen lives transformed, and witnessed the Holy Spirit move in powerful ways during our services and events. This year we have celebrated with 76 individuals as they shared the inward working of the Holy Spirit through water baptism. Let us continue to press on, standing firm in our faith, knowing that God is at work in and through us.
I want to take a moment to reflect on what God has done through us this year in the many outreaches and events we have held. Starting out our year with a day of worship to God to kick in the New Year was such a blessing. The celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection that we came together for at Abravanel Hall in April was such an encouraging time of worship and fellowship. The Calvary Luau, along with both of the church in the park events were a blessing to see outreaches into the community and beyond. With several movie nights, the Utah Food for Families Golf Tournament, and so much more, this Summer was a fun-filled time with so much ministry and gospel opportunities. The Harvest Party last month saw over 1,500 people come through our doors with each person hearing about the Wordless Book and the Gospel of Christ that goes with it. Utah Food for Families has been so blessed with all of the volunteers and donations coming in. We have been able to help over 600 families each week. God is so good! We now look forward to the end of this year with our Women’s Christmas Luncheon and the Candlelight Services to celebrate the birth of Christ. So many opportunities to share the perfect love of Jesus with our friends and families.
As we turn our hearts toward gratitude, let me share another encouraging word from Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Our prayers have not gone unanswered, and the peace of God has indeed guarded us.
Now, as we approach Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity, I want to invite you to prayerfully consider supporting Calvary Salt Lake. Your generosity enables us to continue the work of God in our community and beyond. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:7, "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." Let our giving be an expression of gratitude for all that God has done and a commitment to the work that lies ahead.
You can give online at: www.calvaryslc.org/give
Or you can give in person with the envelopes or at the giving kiosk.
May we respond with open hearts and cheerful generosity, knowing that God will use our gifts to further His kingdom and bless those in need. Together, let us continue to be a beacon of light, love, and hope in a world that desperately needs the transformative power of the Gospel.
I am grateful for each of you and excited about the journey ahead. May God bless you and keep you.
Blessings to you and your family,
Pastor Terry
