Though Presbyterian Youth Triennium 2022 was cancelled, we made the best of the pandemic and made a trip to Zephyr Point with some other Presbyterians from Wyoming. And we are glad we did.
We had a great time exploring the camp and surrounding Nevada portion of Lake Tahoe, swam a lot, got v sunburned, played countless games of corn hole, gaga ball, and basketball, worshipped together, ate lots of excellent food, and dug into Matthew 25 to discuss the gifts we and our congregations have, how we can steward them, and dreamed wild dreams about how we can serve "the least of these" in our communities back home.
Everyone stayed healthy (even with a couple students' particular encounter with a 🐻), and everyone came home wore out and happy!
We are continually amazed at the impressive leadership of the young people we serve alongside, as they help us be more aware of those who are on the margins of society and prophetically imagine a better world. We had pronoun bracelets for everyone so they would feel seen and heard (thanks Marie!), we packed hundreds of period products for our congregations back home to put in their bathrooms to help everyone feel more welcome (thanks to the leadership of Nagwa!) -- and included info on how we can get more involved in making UT a more equal place for women and all! --, and picked up garbage on the trail during our hike. And each of these ideas were inspired by students involved with this ministry.
