Friends, back in July of 2019, The First Presidency through loving leadership reminded all that........ “Today, in unity with such capable and impressive leaders as the national officials of the NAACP, we are impressed to call on people of this nation and, indeed, the entire world to demonstrate greater civility, racial and ethnic harmony and mutual respect,” said President Russell M. Nelson, who was joined by his counselors, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints continues to affirm its fundamental doctrine — and our heartfelt conviction — that all people are God’s precious children and therefore our brothers and sisters,” said President Nelson.

“We compliment The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its good faith efforts to bless not only its members, but people throughout the United States and, indeed, the world in so many ways,” said Derrick Johnson, president And CEO of the NAACP.

We see civil unrest in our day today. The Lord is mindful and better days are ahead! It is gratifying that two inspired leaders are following the good tidings that can only be authored in Heaven!

It is inspiring during a time of great adversity to our global community, I read or witness the selfless acts of others in serving their fellow traveler. One that comes to mind is a business owner who runs a small market in a remote town in Alaska. Currently during this pandemic, all regular shipping has been shut down until further notice in this particular area. The only regular method of reaching this small town is by air or boat! This gentleman decided that he and his wife would charter a boat weekly to travel the 14 hour journey to Costco in Juneau to load up on the basics and return to meet the needs of his small community keeping them bouyed up during this time. They do this every week! Some days the seas are too rough and he and his wife keep their foodstuffs in coolers overnight delaying their return. They could easily just look after their own family. But, the goodness prompted them to look after their neighbor.

The Late Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles stated once... “Don’t let the workings of adversity totally absorb your life. Try to understand what you can. Act where you are able; then let the matter rest with the Lord for a period while you give to others in worthy ways before you take on appropriate concern again” ...... “The Lord’s plan is to exalt you to live with Him and be greatly blessed. The rate at which you qualify is generally set by your capacity to mature, to grow, to love, and to give of yourself.” Elder Richard G. Scott 1928-2015

His counsel is vitally important to each of us especially as we face our concerns and obligations of our time.

God doesn't care nearly as much about where you have been as He does about where you are and, with His help, where you are willing to go.
