A Calling, a Christmas Cantata, and a Quiet Resting Place.
Have you actually read the story of Isaiah? Aside from hearing single comforting quotes from his book, I had never paid much attention to his whole story. Isaiah’s story is often overshadowed by Daniel’s, Jacob’s, Esther’s or Paul’s.
The PBE teams in our Pathfinder club had been studying chapters 1-33 this year. As we studied the chapters together, I realized how fundamental Isaiah’s writings are to the Judeo Christian theology—-the plan for salvation, the virgin birth, the prince of Peace, the wolves lying with the lamb, the child leading them, and the future of peace for his people. Seeing that it was written around 700 BC, it makes for a more difficult reading than the gospels, but once we understood it better, it’s full of treasures applicable to our modern lives today.
Simon and Zara will be preaching on the personal lessons they have learned from Isaiah. Throughout the worship service we will have congregational reading of Scriptures from the book of Isaiah and singing songs pertaining to verses from the book. And Gia will preach about the last item in the Pathfinder Law: Go on God’s errands.
This Isaiah journey has been spiritually fulfilling for me and for the kids. We want to share the wonders and gems we’ve discovered with our church family. And I hope we will understand how much of a treasure we are to a passionate and loving God, who always wants us to come back to Him.
Come join us as we delved into Isaiah’s writings in reading, singing and listening together. Come rediscover the understated prophet’s story of responding to God’s calling for His work. Come rediscover God’s love, in the 700 BC vibes.
Joyfully,
Ms Cindy
