NC LMM Supporters from across the state,

We are excited to announce that for the first time in four years, we will offer a One Year to Live (OYTL) Retreat at Camp Agape the weekend of October 4-6.

Here are several things you could use to help us promote, create interest in the retreat, and get men to sign-up and participate in OYTL.

Here is the link to LMM national website that shares three videos about what OYTL means to individuals.

https://www.lutheranmeninmission.org/events/one-year-to-live/ The second two videos are specific to OYTL.

I have attached the flyer for the event. I encourage you to share with your members and other Lutheran Men groups in your area.

Finally, here is the link to register for the event online.

Disaster Assistance Ministry Update

Ms. Ilham Thurston, LSC NC/SC Disaster Assistance Director, contacted me about using our equipment in the New Bern area. I have been in contact with the Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance staff. Dave Linker, Grace-Salsisbury, sent pictures of the truck/trailers and the equipment for them to review. Ms. Kitti Hardison, CCDRA Disaster Recovery Director, has requested we dispatch the equipment to New Bern.

A special thank you to Dave Linker. He has taken the truck to a local garage for a maintenance check. All is good to go as soon as a current inventory is done.

Additionally, a special thanks to GeoRene Jones, our Administrative Assistant. She retyped and updated all documentation for the equipment. Included were inventory records, insurance, and registration info.

On Friday morning, July 8, Steven Hoyle, his son David, brother Jack Hoyle and daughter Ziva left Grace-Salisbury headed for New Bern. They delivered the truck and trailers to our new partners in ministry, Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance.

Pictured with the units are David Linker, Steven, Jack, and Ziva Hoyle.

The second picture is Steven presenting the equipment keys to Jeremy Kulberg, CCDRA Construction Supervisor.

A special thanks to Steven and Jack for delivering the units.

A special thanks to GeoRene Jones, our Administrative Assistant. She retyped and updated all documentation for the equipment. Included were inventory records, insurance, and registration info.

Terry Edwards, Men's Ministry, shared this note in a recent email.
I am pleased to announce that we have filled the Administrative Assistant Position. Let me introduce you to Deacon GeoRene Jones (pronounced JoRene).
On May 12th, I was contacted by GeoRene about the Administrative Assistant position. After a discussion with Bob, Jack Weller and I met with GeoRene at the synod office on May 16th and discussed the responsibilities of the position. She is well qualified for this position and will help us become more connected with churches across the state. Afterwards we offered her the position, and she accepted. Her first day of employment will be June 1st. The office hours will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

JoRene's career includes work as a Paralegal prior to receiving her call. She has worked with social ministry programs on the Synod staff. Prior to Covid, she also initiated our trailers being dispatched to Burgaw and New Bern. So she is familiar with most of our programs. Last year she was the interim pastor at Wittenberg-Granite Quarry. She leads worship at one of the synod's congregations on most Sundays.
Join Terry in welcoming our new Administrative Assistant Georene Jones.

NC Lutheran Men in Mission 100th Gathering was held at Grace Lutheran Church Salisbury on Saturday, March 11. Our keynote speaker was NC Synod, Bishop Tim Smith. In his remarks, he shared that the Lutheran church is like playing the accordion. It pulls apart for a while and then comes back together, the whole time making music.
Many participants watched as Bishop Smith cut an apple in half and asked how many seeds were in an apple? He explained that most apples have 4 to 7 seeds. Now think of this: if we planted one seed, nurtured it, and allowed it to grow, how many apples would the seed produce? We do not know, but we do know we need to keep planting seeds of ideas, ministry, and service to help the church grow.

The start of 100th Gathering of NC Lutheran Men in Mission opened with the Children's Choir of Grace Lutheran Church sharing two songs. What a wonderful reminder of why NC LMM are working to build the ministries of all churches and their congregations.

We are just a few days away from Celebrating the 100th Gathering of NC Lutheran Men in Mission and the Home Mission Foundation. Join us at Grace Lutheran Church, Salisbury Saturday morning, March 11.

Hear the 100-year history of our organization. Learn about our present and future from Keynote speaker Bishop Rev. Dr. Tim Smith. Find out nationwide opportunities from national LMM executive director Rev. John Sundquist.

In 1923, ten men from Kings Mountain pledged to the NC Lutheran Synod, each giving $100 a year for ten years. This ten thousand dollar start helped to build churches in the western and eastern parts of North Carolina. Today, that seed of ten thousand dollars has grown to over 4.8 million in the Loan & Gift Fund.

Join us as we learn about making a similar Legacy Gift to support scholarships to seminarians and grants to ministries in our communities.

Use this Eventbrite link to register live or using Zoom. Help us have at least 100 Lutheran Men in Mission at our 100th Gathering.

If you want to personally appeal to your Men's Group, here is the EventBrite link you could send them and ask them to register for the event.
