Dear Franklin Pres. Friends and Family,

What is the Trinity? Father, Son, Holy Spirit. But, how do these three persons exist as one Triune God? That question is not so easy to answer; in fact, it is a question that no person, no matter how Biblically educated, can truly answer. And, because understanding the Triune nature of God is an essential part of our faith, we are going to spend some time this week discussing the Trinity. Basically, after we discussed the very basic question of why Christians believe in God last week; the logical next step for us to take is to discuss why Christians believe that God is Triune, and what that means.

Dear Franklin Pres. Friends and Family,

This week, we continue our series, "Why We Believe What We Believe." In this sermon, we are going to spend some time talking about why Christians believe in the existence of God; but, not just the existence of any god, but the existence of the God of the Bible specifically. That’s why we started this series last week with a defense of the Bible because, ultimately, the reason that we believe in the God of the Bible is because He reveals Himself to us in the Bible. Therefore, if we take the Bible to be an ultimate authority, we must also take what it says about God to be ultimately authoritative because its words are God’s own words about Himself. As such, there is no better place to turn to in Scripture to see what God reveals about Himself than in the passage where He refers to Himself as “I AM.” Join us as we talk about the existence of God.

Dear Franklin Pres. Friends and Family,

This week, we are starting a new sermon series, “Why We Believe What We Believe." During this series, we’re going to be covering a lot of important topics; and the main point of this series is to give the knowledge, the understanding, and the ability to articulate why you believe what you believe if someone asks you about it. So, in many ways, this series is going to be a 14-week apologetics, or defense of the faith, course. And, with that in mind, I wanted to start this series off with a look at why we believe the Holy Bible to be the inerrant and infallible Word of God because everything else that we are going to talk about in this series is dependent upon the belief that the Bible truly is the Word of God. If the Bible isn’t the inerrant and infallible Word of God, then everything that we believe becomes null and void. Therefore, I believe that any true defense of the faith MUST start with a defense of the inerrancy and infallibility of Scripture. So, that’s where we are going to start this series today. We're also trying something new during this series, at the end of the sermon each week, there will be a time for the congregation to ask questions, express doubts/concerns, or even push back on something that was preached. If you've ever felt like church is a place where you can't ask questions, come and join us; I promise your questions are welcome here!

Dear Franklin Pres. Friends and Family,

As Paul is concluding his letter to the Galatians, he is addressing how believers are to live faithful lives in the present evil age as we await the perfection of the Kingdom to come in all of its glory. Specifically, through Paul’s writing in this section, we see that, because we live in this present evil age, we must remember that our place in God’s Kingdom is a gift of God’s grace alone, we must boast only in the cross of Christ, and we must be prepared to face opposition. So, let’s look at Paul’s conclusion to his letter to the Galatians and consider each one of these truths in greater detail.

Dear Franklin Pres. Friends and Family,

There are many people in this world who are more than happy to willingly step on somebody or tear them down in order to prop themselves up; they are willing to do whatever harm is necessary to advance themselves. And, for Christians, this attitude is problematic and sinful. Scripture makes it abundantly clear that, as believers, we are called to do good to others; in fact, we are called to always be doing good to others. We cannot be selfish, we cannot be willing to tear others down in order to build ourselves up; we must make an effort to do good to others and, especially, to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
