The push to remove faith from our public square has consequences we can see in our communities right now. Returning to fundamental values is the only way everyday Americans can rebuild the foundation of this country.

This commentary is from a famous interview with Oprah Winfrey on the Where Are They Now? series.

During that broadcast, Raven-Symoné originally sparked massive internet backlash by declaring, "I'm tired of being labeled. I'm an American. I'm not an African-American; I'm an American."

She later clarified on her podcast, Tea Time With Raven & Miranda, and during an appearance on The Jason Lee Show, that her rejection of the label was not a denial of her Blackness.

She maintains that she is proudly a Black American. However, she reserves the term "African-American" for first- or second-generation immigrants who still hold direct cultural or physical ties to the African continent.
