Today was the Salisbury Christian School graduation ceremony and SBF pastor Tri Evans was asked to give the commencement address. Tri and Stephanie’s daughter Daisy graduated today from SCS; how many students get a hug from their dad on stage after hearing their name called? 💕
Thank you to our friends and church members who were in the audience for the photos!

A family that attends our church was in need of a major modification to their home following a medical procedure, so a group of men stepped in and built this ramp. Working together, they were able to get it done in about a day and half.
This is just what God calls us to do in a local church. Thank you to everyone who had a hand 😉 in this project!

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

A team from SBF has an incredible opportunity this summer as they embark on a two week trip to Kenya with Love Africa Mission. They will lead a marriage conference and discipleship training program for the Massai people, help with a youth Bible camp and assist with a construction project. Most importantly, we ask for prayers for safety and for the team to help make a difference in the lives of the Massai people. There are more details on the program at this link, along with an opportunity to support team members financially.

Today, let us pause to remember the sacrifices of the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price defending the freedoms we hold dear in the United States.

In Jesus’s words, ““Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬

Memorial Day originated after the Civil War when citizens placed flowers on soldiers’ graves in Arlington National Cemetery in 1868. It was known as Decoration Day. Americans had begun the tradition of placing flags and flowers prior to this but this was the first federal declaration. Since 1966, however, Waterloo, New York, is considered the birthplace of Memorial Day for hosting a community-wide event 100 years earlier, in 1866.

After World war I, the name was changed to Memorial Day and the holiday commemorated all those who had died in war. Presidents issued yearly proclamations to encourage Americans to note the solemn day; it was not until in 1971 that Memorial Day became an official holiday. In 2000, a resolution, the “National Moment of Remembrance,” was passed. It asks for all Americans "to pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m. (local time) on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all."

May we learn, remember and pray.
