DCC Devotionals: Stillness in His Presence
Scripture Focus
Psalm 46:10 - Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Devotional
There are seasons when the Lord leads us not through noise, activity, or constant movement, but through silence. Many times we want immediate answers, clear direction, or a visible sign of what comes next. But God often invites us into stillness so we can learn to recognize His voice more clearly.
The quiet place is not an empty place. It is a sacred place where our hearts become settled, our fears lose their grip, and our attention turns fully toward the Lord. In the stillness, we are reminded that God is near. He is not absent. He is not withholding His care. He is calling us deeper.
When we do not know what to do next, the answer is not always to rush ahead. Sometimes the most faithful step is to quiet our soul, pause before the Lord, and listen for His still, small voice. He will guide us. He will protect us. He will strengthen us with peace that goes beyond understanding.
Psalm 46:10 reminds us to be still and know that He is God. Stillness is an act of trust. It declares, “Lord, You are in control. I do not have to strive, panic, or force my way forward. I can rest in Your presence and wait for Your direction.”
The Lord is with His people in the silence. He is drawing us closer, teaching us to listen, and leading us into a deeper relationship with Him.
Application
Take a few moments today to sit quietly before the Lord without distraction. Turn off the noise, quiet your thoughts, and simply become aware of His presence. Ask Him to speak, guide, and strengthen you. Trust that even when you do not have all the answers, He is with you and will show you the way forward.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to be still before You. Quiet my anxious thoughts and help me recognize Your voice. When I do not know what to do next, remind me that You are with me to guide, protect, and lead me. Draw me deeper into relationship with You, and help me trust You in the silence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
