God's richest blessings in Christ Jesus. ~Pastor Don
Too Close to Notice
It was a beautiful Tuesday morning on June 2, 2026, with bright sunshine and very little wind. I walked out of the garage and to the street, continuing my devotions as I walked. I was still in front of our house when I received a phone call, asking about scheduling an appointment. I walked back into the house to check my calendar. When I walked out of the garage again, I was surprised to see an adult doe standing at the end of our drive way, next to the street, out in the open and in broad daylight. To my further surprise, her newborn fawn suddenly stood up from the culvert in our driveway. The fawn looked at me, and then began to wobble her way toward mom who patiently led her across the street and into our neighbor’s trees.
Two things surprised me that morning. The fawn didn’t know much about the world into which it had just been born, but it knew enough to follow mama. How I wish that I had that same kind of understanding and trust to follow Jesus!
And the second surprise: I had twice walked within 10 feet of that fawn that morning, not even recognizing the miracle of life that had been dropped in my front yard! It was as if it was--
Too Close to Notice!
How often God places His love and presence right in front of me, or beside me, and I don’t even notice. I am so focused upon my thoughts, plans, concerns, that I fail to “see” the gifts and blessing from God’s loving hand and heart.
“Loving Father, open my eyes to recognize the signs of Your loving presence. And give me the wisdom and confidence of a newborn fawn, to follow You in the footsteps of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (and even in your front yard!) ~Matthew 28:20
