You are your kids safe space❤️

Sometimes, the messages our kids receive outside of our care hurt. They feel like they don’t measure up, like they don’t have good enough friends, like they can’t quite fit, or like they aren’t the best at anything. Do you know what that tells us? Your kid needs a cheerleader, one that is ready and willing to roar louder than all the brutal things they might encounter during the school year. When we do that, our kids will know that no matter what happens inside of school, they have a safe place to belong outside of it.

Teaching our kids kindness is so important!! We are all different in so many ways, but God loves us all the same. We need to teach our kids to love and respect one another. We need to teach them to not judge others and that starts with us as parents. They are always watching and are always listening. We as parents need to be kind and loving. We need to be the example!!

According to research, showing kindness to others impacts positively the brain, the heart, general health, and has been proven to curb depression. Other research tells us people who practice kindness are 25 percent happier than those who don’t. But even more, showing kindness can potentially change the world.

A special shout out to all the parents who are tirelessly striving to raise kind humans!

Ask for help when you need it. Show your kids that it’s okay to ask for help!!! We can’t do everything on our own and neither can they. “ Asking for help is a sign of intelligence, not weakness!”

Let us guess: You have no trouble helping others, but when it comes to needing help yourself, you find it hard to ask for what you need. If this sounds like you, remember having needs isn’t wrong, nor is it a sign you don’t have it all together. And there’s also something bigger to consider: If you spend all of your time rejecting the help of others, you’re modeling to your kids how they should view (or not view) needs of their own. By accepting help, you’re showing your kids how to do so graciously, how to admit and accept limitations, and adopt a spirit of humility.

We can often be our own worst critics. But just as your kids evolve from one phase to the next, your measure of success in your parenting should change to fit the season you're in, too. So, instead of judging yourself or your kid for all the things that happened you wish didn't, how about reframing your thinking and celebrate the things that DIDN'T happen instead? You can celebrate things like . . .

All the ER trips you didn't have to make.
All the phone calls you didn't receive from the principal's office at school.
All the times you kept a calm tone when you felt like doing the opposite.
Every time your kid told you the truth unprompted.

Parenting is hard and unrealistic expectations make it more difficult. Let's shape our way of thinking.

A big shout out to all the kids who didn’t win an award, make honor roll, and barely made it through the school year. A big hug to the moms, dads, grandparents, that stuck by them as they maneuvered the school year. To the kids that didn’t get invited to the prom, didn’t get a scholarship to college, and perhaps have to go straight to work out of high school....you are still worthy of a pat on the back and a Facebook post with people talking about how amazing you are.
Some kids have to work twice as hard as other students just to get a C. Their achievements deserve recognition.
Don’t forget those kids.
Kindness, creativity, and generosity....those attributes sadly don’t get the accolades they deserve.

(I saw this and I absolutely 💯 agree and love 💘 ❤ 💕 it!!!)

All of our kids are special and need praise! Often times we tend to compare and belittle them without even knowing we are doing it. We need to choose to be intentional with our words. Be kind,be loving ,be patient , and be a good listener.

We're heartbroken. We know you are too. Days like today are the days where we want to cling to Jesus a little tighter. If you need to cry. Cry. If you need to pray. Pray. If you need to be covered in worship. Listen. We'll be doing all of those things, and we're praying so fervently for all the families who lost someone today in Uvalde, Texas. 🤍

“It’s the small things that fill our days with meaning” Amen!!

Comparison is like a moving airport sidewalk you wander onto… it whisks you 50 yards away to a bad place before you’ve even taken a step. Contentment, however, is choosing to be happy with what you’ve got. It’s learning to live in a state of gratitude even for the small things.

So, what are you grateful for today? What small things have brought you joy recently?
