This Tuesday, we begin our Bible study on the book of Esther—a book unlike any other in the Hebrew Bible which, by the way, does not mention the name of God once! Together, we'll consider the characters, place, and plot of the story, and ask ourselves why this book is in our Bibles at all.

Join us for either conversation at 10 a.m. at Church of the Cross (1600 Rush Street) or 6 p.m. at University UMC (1509 S. Santa Fe Avenue). 🌻

The United Methodist Church teaches clearly that, as followers of Jesus, "we reject the use of war as an instrument of foreign policy and insist that every peaceful and diplomatic means of resolution be exhausted before the start of armed conflicts" (The Book of Discipline, para. 163).

We give thanks to God that the United States and Iran have agreed to a framework to finally end the war.

Regardless of our politics, let us all this evening pray for the President and our country, and the leaders and people of Iran, that peace may prevail.

We will sing praises to God, hear Pastor J.J. preach, and continue to pray for our city in this difficult moment.

All are welcome.

Saline County Emergency Management is coordinating volunteer chainsaw crews to assist residents. Crews can cut and move limbs or downed trees to the curb for limb pickup.

To request assistance, call Saline County Emergency Management at 785.833.7597 or 785.833.7593.

Please note: Chainsaw crews are volunteers, and assistance will be provided as crews are available.

The Saline County Health Department, located at 125 W. Elm St., has opened its lobby to the public as a cooling shelter and a place to charge medical devices. The lobby will remain open until 7 p.m. today. For questions, residents can call 785.826.6600.
