The F. Carroll Sargent Arboretum at Greenlawn Cemetery is really starting to show off its flora and fauna. There are many trees and shrubs blooming or beginning to bloom. There is a baby goose and some baby ducks have been seen as well. The snapping turtles have laid their eggs. There is also a turtle log section of Sargent pond with as many as 36 turtles seen on it at once. Come see a special treasure and gem of Salem, their rural cemetery and accredited arboretum. There is plenty of shade as well. We hope you get to enjoy a drive or stroll in Greenlawn soon.

It's a beautiful day for a walk in Salem's rural cemetery and accredited arboretum. Greenlawn Cemetery and the F. Carroll Sargent Arboretum at Greenlawn Cemetery offer beauty, history, nature and a peaceful place for so many. Did you know that not only did Walter Scott Dickson gave the City of Salem an 1894 high Victorian, gothic Chapel called the Dickson Memorial Chapel, but he also made the er****on of the bridge over Fountain Pond possible? He was so generous to the City of Salem and Greenlawn Cemetery. Salem should be so grateful for those that made the city so very special.

Happy Anniversary to the F. Carroll Sargent Arboretum at Greenlawn Cemetery! Can you believe it's been six years since the accreditation with ArbNet. We have had so much support from so many for this special achievement for Salem. We need to especially thank Dr. Lisa Delissio for coming to the Friends of Greenlawn meeting six years ago. That is how it all got started. Dr. Lisa Delissio, Aiden Muise, Chris Burke, Charlie Lipson, Marissa Gabriel, Jacob St. Louis, Mike Podmanicsky, Emily Goodale and so many more have been volunteers extraordinaire for this arboretum! Some give tours for us and others have been cataloging the trees and shrubs and so much more. Some do both. To think the inventory is about half done. Cheers to Mr. F. Carroll Sargent and all that have contributed to this amazing collection of trees and shrubs in Greenlawn Cemetery. May the trees and shrubs continue to thrive and the collections grow. Cheers and congratulations to the F. Carroll Sargent Arboretum at Greenlawn Cemetery and to all those that support, care and preserve it.

Happy Birthday Mr. Walter Scott Dickson! Happy Dedication Day to the Dickson Memorial Chapel! Thank you for giving this beautiful high Victorian, gothic Chapel and stunning conservatory to the City of Salem 135 years ago today in memory of your wife Georgia Mr. Dickson. The Dickson Memorial Chapel is slowly getting some care and restoration. Thank you to everyone supporting this project. The Friends of Greenlawn along with the City of Salem hope to completely restore the entire Chapel so many may use it for memorials and more as it was intended. Bringing back the stunning conservatory in some form will be our next project. I know many are smiling seeing this restoration under way. May Mr. Dickson and his wife know we will see his wishes are forever remembered and fulfilled as his will states.
