Yesterday, we entered into our final week of prayer and fasting.

We know that God will get the glory in the ways our hearts and minds have been renewed so far, and we know he’ll continue to work in us this week.

As we continue week two of fasting and prayer, our focus shifts inward—to the work God is doing within us.

Fasting isn’t a punishment or performance for God.

It’s an invitation—drawing nearer to our Father, while creating space between our hearts and the noise of the world.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
—1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

May this week refinine our hearts, renew our minds, and remind us who we are in Him. ✨

What a blessing it was to gather last night and learn more about what fasting and prayer truly look like.

We were reminded that fasting isn’t about deprivation, punishment, or suffering for God—it’s about connection. It’s about creating less connection to the world so we can have more connection with Him.

We talked about fasting the things we naturally turn to instead of God—the distractions, habits, or noise that quietly take His place in our everyday lives: TV, social media, sports, shopping.

Fasting invites us to redirect it back to the One who truly sustains us. Rather than simply going without, fasting is about replacement.

Replacing scrolling with prayer. Replacing background noise with worship.

Entering this season in the first month of the year is powerful. It’s a way of offering God our first 10% of our year—by surrendering our time, focus, and dependence to Him.

Week 1 of Prayer & Fasting: All about Jesus
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
