What a blessing it was to gather last night and learn more about what fasting and prayer truly look like.
We were reminded that fasting isnât about deprivation, punishment, or suffering for Godâitâs about connection. Itâs about creating less connection to the world so we can have more connection with Him.
We talked about fasting the things we naturally turn to instead of Godâthe distractions, habits, or noise that quietly take His place in our everyday lives: TV, social media, sports, shopping.
Fasting invites us to redirect it back to the One who truly sustains us. Rather than simply going without, fasting is about replacement.
Replacing scrolling with prayer. Replacing background noise with worship.
Entering this season in the first month of the year is powerful. Itâs a way of offering God our first 10% of our yearâby surrendering our time, focus, and dependence to Him.
Week 1 of Prayer & Fasting: All about Jesus
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
- 2 Chronicles 7:14
