We give thanks for the appointment of Bishop Sarah Mullally as the next Archbishop of Canterbury. Recognizing the weight of the ministry she will undertake, we ask that you strengthen and guide her in all things.
May she be upheld by your grace and surrounded by the prayers of your people, as she leads with wisdom, courage, and compassion.
Promote her to lead in the way of righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen."

...on the night in which he was betrayed... The Eucharist on Maundy Thursday takes on a different tone. We experience Jesus of Nazareth at his most human, speaking in the plain words of a man who knows he is about to die. The "miracle" of bread and wine, flesh and blood, not clear to those seated at that last meal. The veil descends and will not be lifted until the darkness of the night begins to receed into the glow of the pre-dawn morning in three day's time.
