It's been an odd week with the snow and all. Most of us have been swamped, especially if your kids were home for three straight days! However, we're two weeks out on the Evangelism Conference. If you haven't signed up for the conference, take 5 minutes and do so now!

Everyday Evangelism is a conference designed for the whole family with two distinct focuses, one for children 10 and under, and one for those 11 and older.

On this snowy Sunday, we made the call to cancel our weekly worship service. We will see you next week!

That said, while we feel we shouldn't gather due to the weather, we do want to encourage you to spend time in the Word and worship with your family.

Pick a few familiar hymns to sing. You don't need to be adventurous. Pick some good songs and like "Holy Holy Holy," "Great is thy faithfulness," "In Christ alone," or something you can do well, and praise your king.

Read a passage and talk about it with your kids. What does it say? What is teaching? Ask basic exegetical questions of the text and talk about it, and apply it.

Recite the Apostles Creed, read a section of the Savoy declaration, and work through some catechism questions with your kids. We've been in the Heidelberg Catechism week by week in the weekly email. This week was question 97.

Spend time in prayer. Pray for your Brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for the road and power crews and those working in the storm. Pray for God's protection for emergency workers who have to be on the road. Pray that God will advance the gospel in New London County and New England. Pray that you and your kids know Christ, grow in Christ, and live faithfully for him in this post-Christian culture. Pray for peace in this nation, and that the laws of this nation will be executed faithfully, and that the lawful authorities will act in ways consistent with their Romans 13:1-4 duties to righteously deal with evildoers. Pray that God is glorified in all that you do and say, and all that this church does and says. Pray for the salvation of the lost, starting with your loved ones.

Give: Worship is canceled, but the utility bills are not. We had snow (and thus low attendance last Sunday), and now we have another storm. As a general rule, we encourage you to build tithing into your life and finances. Worship through giving. https://tccsalem.org/give

Savoy Declaration of Faith, 1658 - A Weekly Reading
24. Of the Civil Magistrate (Part 2)

Article 3
Although the magistrate is bound to encourage, promote, and protect the professors and profession of the gospel, and to manage and order civil administrations in a due subserviency to the interest of Christ in the world, and to that end to take care that men of corrupt minds and conversations do not licentiously publish and divulge blasphemy and errors, in their own nature subverting the faith and inevitably destroying the souls of them that receive them: yet in such differences about the doctrines of the gospel, or ways of the worship of God, as may befall men exercising a good conscience, manifesting it in their conversation, and holding the foundation, not disturbing others in their ways or worship that differ from them; there is no warrant for the magistrate under the gospel to abridge them of their liberty.

Article 4
It is the duty of people to pray for magistrates, to honor their persons, to pay them tribute and other dues, to obey their lawful commands, and to be subject to their authority, for conscience’ sake. Infidelity or difference in religion doth not make void the magistrate’s just and legal authority, nor free the people from their due obedience to him: from which ecclesiastical persons are not exempted; much less hath the Pope any power or jurisdiction over them in their dominions, or over any of their people; and least of all to deprive them of their dominions or lives, if he shall judge them to be heretics, or upon any other pretense whatsoever.

Savoy Declaration of Faith, 1658 - A Weekly Reading
24. Of the Civil Magistrate (Part 1)

Article 1
God, the Supreme Lord and King of all the world, hath ordained civil magistrates to be under him, over the people, for his own glory and the public good, and to this end hath armed them with the power of the sword, for the defense and encouragement of them that do good, and for the punishment of evil-doers.

Article 2
It is lawful for Christians to accept and execute the office of a magistrate when called thereunto; in the management whereof, as they ought especially to maintain piety, justice, and peace, according to the wholesome laws of each commonwealth, so, for that end, they may lawfully, now under the New Testament, wage war upon just and necessary occasion.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day we often see quotes from his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, however Dr. King in his work and life shared many valuable speeches and letters.

Today we invite you to meditate small quote from his Purpose of Education, as we reflect on the reality of our current culture and education systems in this country.
