If you haven’t met Bex yet, you need to change that.

We’re so excited to officially welcome Bex Mann as one of our Student Ministries Pastors! It has been a week now since she started with us and It didn’t take long to see what a gift she is to our community. Bex has a way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and known, and it’s already evident that she has a heart for students and a passion for pointing them to Jesus.

When you see her around, take a moment to introduce yourself and say hello— especially this weekend!

We’re so thankful you’re here, Bex. Welcome to the family 💓

For the past week, 35 students and leaders from Salem Alliance Youth have been immersed in the diversity of New York City. We came to learn about cultures, people groups, and God’s mission to reach those who have little or no access to the gospel.

From conversations on busy streets to learning from ministries serving international communities, these students gained a deeper understanding of what it means to love people across cultures and share the hope of Jesus with unreached people groups. They saw firsthand that the nations are not just overseas, the nations are all around us.

More than anything, I am so proud of this team.

They showed humility, courage, curiosity, and a genuine desire to grow in their faith. Watching them engage with others and embrace God’s heart for the world has been one of the greatest joys of this trip.

Praying this week is just the beginning of a lifelong passion for Gods global mission.

One more day in New York. Let’s do this!

We went to a mosque and a Hindu temple yesterday. Here’s what happened.

Our team split into two groups and spent time in spaces that felt completely unfamiliar, and it raised all the right questions. About faith. About culture. About what barriers actually exist when it comes to the gospel.
Meanwhile, students have been in sessions learning how to do something most people avoid: talk to strangers about what they believe, 30-second testimony, and starting a real conversations with strangers.

We ended the day with a delicious cultural experience meal.

Today, we are going to church of former Buddhists and Hindus in the morning. And then cricket with locals in the afternoon.

Stretched on this trip doesn’t even cover it. But we’re here for it.

First day in NYC 🗽🍎

We started our trip with a photo scavenger hunt around the city, seeing some of New York’s most famous (and. Infamous) sites. Here are a few of our favorite candid shots from the day.

Today, our ministry begins. We will visit Hindu and Muslim places of worship, and learn about some of the greatest barriers for other cultures and religions when it comes to receiving the gospel.

It has been an incredible trip so far, and we are just getting started. More photos to come!

Shoutout to the most dedicated, most passionate, most Jesus-like volunteer team we know.

Our middle and high school leaders show up with consistency, with compassion, and with a deep understanding that discipleship is a long game. They’re building trust one conversation at a time, walking alongside teenagers through the awkward, the painful, and the glorious. It’s holy work, and they do it with such grace.

As regular ministry rhythms pause for summer, we want to honor you. You have run well. Rest well. Let your soul exhale. May God meet you in this slower season and return you refreshed, renewed, and more filled than ever.

Crash and Flipside leaders, you have shaped eternity, and we are so grateful. 🙏

There aren't enough words to capture what serving in Student Ministry has meant to me for the last 15 years! Doing life with students and leaders like YOU has been an incredible experience and an absolute privilege.

I am not leaving quite yet, but before summer schedules get crazy, the Student Ministries team is hosting a send-off for me, and I'd love to see you there. It's open house style with no pressure. Just good people celebrating good things God has done over the years, which I've happened to have a front seat to watch.

Drop in, say hey, stay as long as you'd like. It would truly make my day.
