“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” - 2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As a young man, there are things that are a strong and constant temptation. As we age, certain aspects of “youthful lusts” gets easier to resist...at least it should. Until, that is, we begin to relive our youth. What often follows is a renewing of youthful lusts. Our youth can never be relived…but the lusts of it can! The effect will not be as gratifying and result will be no less destructive. Whether you be youthful or aged, heed this instruction: “Flee also youthful lusts:”

The closer look we get at the world, the more sin we see in others. The closer look we get at the Lord,
the more sin we see in ourselves. Only Christ can make a heart clean.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” - Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Are you carrying your faith or are you following your faith? Faith in Christ ought not to be a burden
that you carry. It ought to be a belief that carries you. The difference is simply between who it is that
is doing the carrying and who is doing the following. Our faith can become burdensome when we
are going our own way. However, when we decide to follow Christ, as He leads us, we will soon
discover our burdens are lifted by far more capable hands. There is no rest in resistance. But there is rest in reliance!

“He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: But he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬

In America we are seeing a greater divide between “The Haves and The Have-nots”. While certainly
greed of the rich and the oppression of the poor is a factor. What concerns me more is the divide
between the “Hard Working” and the “Not Working.” The “Earners” and the “entitled.”

The righteous, in context of honest hard work
will be rewarded for such. However, those perverse in their ways and following vain persons will fall
suddenly and be poverty stricken. For example, there is a solid correlation between sin and poverty
as there is in laziness and poverty. Consider the economics of those who are given to sin, vice and
excess versus those who are not.

If these things be true of carnal things, how much the more of spiritual things? I feel it not unreasonable to assume, that they who will not labor for the bread upon the table, will not labor for The Bread of Life! The sensually minded are not spiritually minded!
