We decided to cancel services today. Do to the city side roads are still to icy and slick. We at Emmanuel Baptist care deeply for the safety of our members and guest. We hope to see everyone next Sunday and hope the weather is better so that we can gather together to fellowship. Stay warm and safe.

Last Saturday we put together our yearly Christmas shoe boxes. We had a great time making 60 shoe boxes. We do boxes for both boys and girls of three different age groups. Its always a joy to put these boxes together to share our witness and to demonstrate God's Love to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan's Purse partners with local churches like ours to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.

For our upcoming sermon series, "Trusting God in Troubling Times", we will be looking at the book of Habakkuk. Habakkuk is one of the "minor" prophets in the Old Testament but that only means his letter is short, not that what he has to say is insignificant. Habakkuk addresses the issue of theodicy. If God is all powerful and God is all loving, which we confess he is, then why is there evil and suffering in his creation? That is definitely not a "minor" issue and is frequently used by people to reject God. This is the question of Habakkuk: why does it seem "evil" people prosper while "good" people suffer? The question, and its answer, have profound implications for our understanding of the person and work of Jesus. Excited to see what God has planned for our time in Habakkuk. As always, keep first things first and give God the glory!
