“Welcome... and Some Church Stuff”
If you’re with us today because someone invited you to
our Friends Day or you just heard this is our meal day--
welcome! We especially welcome all the young men from
the local boys home, The Brotherhood Academy. And if
you’re visiting and had no idea it was our meal day, we
hope you can stay and join us at the luncheon immediately
following our worship. Here’s some church stuff on my
mind (while pondering the strange coincidence of a storm
in the Atlantic named Dolly, appearing shortly after the
recent passing of the iconic entertainer and baptized
believer and longtime member of the CofC, Dolly Parton).
Item 1: Beginning in the week of September 6, every one
of our church families/members will be receiving a letter
explaining the latest elder selection process, in which the
current elders are seeking some additional shepherds
within our congregation. Please be prayerful about this
process, what the Scriptures say about it, and as we help
them in bringing forth names of potential new elders.
Item 2: Remember the Fall Quarter Bible Classes begin
this Wednesday, September 2. I’ll be leading a class on
various theological words and terms that are very
important to us as Christians which I’m calling,
“Wonderful
Words of Life.
” This is in the auditorium on Weds at 6:30
after the meal. On Weds in the AC, the Ladies will have
various teachers addressing “Ladies in the Bible.
”
On Sunday, Sept 6, Jim Hays will move the class he just
completed in Adult 2 class into the Auditorium. He’s calling
it,
“Pursuing Purity.
” Ray Don McIntosh will lead the Adult 2
Class (in AC Library), where he will be looking at themes in
both Philippians and Colossians in a class he’s calling “All in
Christ.
” Travis Parks will be leading the LIFT class in a study
of “Thinking Through Christianity.
” Find a class and join in!
Next Sunday (9/6), Javier Leon will return and have the
message and maybe report on our Mexican mission work.
