Sister Mia Rapp spoke in the Lake of the Ozarks Ward for her missionary farewell, sharing a powerful testimony of how living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings lasting peace and joy.

Using the analogy of a recipe, Mia taught that just as every ingredient has a purpose, Heavenly Father’s commandments work together to help us find happiness. When we fall short, the Savior’s grace fills the gaps and helps us become who God knows we can be.

Mia shared:

“God has given us a recipe for joy through His commandments, and Jesus Christ is the secret ingredient that makes it possible for us to succeed—even when we make mistakes.”

She also reminded us:

“Heavenly Father’s commandments are not restrictions but expressions of His love. Everything He asks us to do is intended to bring joy, protection, growth, and ultimately help us return home to Him.”

Reflecting on her own experiences, Mia testified that Heavenly Father provides loving guidance through His commandments because He wants His children to be happy.

She explained that He asks us to live His laws so we can avoid unnecessary heartache, find strength through scripture and covenants, experience the blessings of forgiveness and service, and become more like the Savior.

Mia is currently serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Sacramento Mission, sharing the gospel with Spanish-speaking communities.

Hope in Action 💙

Live 2 Give Hope recently hosted its Hope in Action Awards Banquet, honoring foster families, kinship caregivers, adoptive families, social workers, and volunteers who faithfully serve children in crisis throughout Missouri’s 26th Circuit.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were honored to provide the main course dinner for the evening, helping support an event dedicated to recognizing those who care for vulnerable children and families in the community.

Bishop Paul Rone shared:

“Our congregation has built a loving relationship with Live 2 Give Hope through the JustServe program. Serving this amazing organization has been a blessing for everyone involved. Contributing to the awards banquet was an immediate yes for us. Honoring and serving such wonderful members of our community is both a blessing and an honor.”

The Church is grateful for opportunities to partner with Live 2 Give Hope and JustServe to strengthen families, support foster care efforts, and serve the Lebanon community.

On November 15, 2025, the Salem branch Young Women and leaders had the opportunity to volunteer at a water/aid station for the annual Honoring Our Heroes Marathon—a race from Salem to Rolla that raises money for veterans’ organizations.

The Young Women who served were Ada Greener, Kelsey Smith, Megan Whalen, and Azilee Williams. Their leaders included Sister April Greener, Sister Elaine Smith, and Sister Michelle Smith. Everyone enjoyed serving and is already looking forward to helping again this year!

An unexpected blessing came this month when project organizers Sister Michelle Smith and her daughter, Kelsey, were invited to attend the April 23 Gala Luncheon at the Salem Armory hosted by the Honoring Our Heroes organization. There, they accepted two awards on behalf of the branch Young Women: 🏅 Most Original/Judges Award for the Marathon Event and 🏅 Best Decorated for the Half-Marathon Event.

Congratulations, Young Women on a job well done! 🎉

🎓 From high school hallways to the State Capitol and this Lebanon Young Women is just getting started.

Meet Abigail Lloyd, a Lebanon senior who is doing all the things—and doing them well.

✨ Graduating high school this year
📚 Completing her first full year at Southwest Baptist University
🎓 3.85 GPA (High Honors)
🏛️ Interning at the Missouri House of Representatives

At just 17 when she started her internship, Abigail stepped into a world typically filled with college upperclassmen—and she held her own. From answering calls and managing paperwork to helping visitors navigate the Capitol, she’s gained real-world experience in leadership, professionalism, and communication.

Her motivation? A future in law.

⚖️ Abigail plans to double major in social work and criminal justice before heading to law school, with the goal of becoming a child advocacy attorney and returning home to serve her community.

But her impact doesn’t stop there…

💛 She’s deeply involved in volunteer work, serving foster children and giving back through organizations like JustServe.

“Abigail has been an absolute joy to have involved with Live 2 Give Hope”, said Laura Gartin, director. “It’s been amazing to watch her grow into a compassionate, service-minded young leader. She serves with heart… Her dedication, kindness, and eagerness to serve reflect the very best of our mission—empowering youth to make a positive impact in their community.”

🏅 Recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award
🎓 Earned acceptance into multiple colleges and secured $25,000/year in scholarships

Balancing school, work, and service isn’t easy—but Abigail’s dedication, heart, and drive make it look possible.

She’s not just preparing for the future—she’s already shaping it. 💫
