Afghanistan is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. This winter, 23 million people face food insecurity and possible famine. As prices skyrocket, families cannot access cash to pay for food, medicine or other basic necessities. The U.S. government must address the economic drivers of this crisis to prevent further suffering and save lives. Urge the current Administration to facilitate banking access for Afghans and find new ways to support the country’s critical services like hospitals, schools and utilities. Holy, beloved Father,
Bless each act of welcome and outreach that draws those in exile into the “we” of community and of the Church, so that our earth may truly become what you yourself created it to be: the common home of all our sisters and brothers.
Amen - Pope Francis

The Day of the Seafarer is June 25.
Each year, the Coalition of Catholic Organizations Against Human Trafficking (CCOAHT) launches a campaign to raise awareness of forced labor in the fishing industry. This year, due to the global pandemic, a new humanitarian crisis has emerged. Hundreds of thousands of seafarers have been stranded aboard ships beyond the length of their contracts. Sign the petition below urging Walmart, one of our largest retailers, to acknowledge their reliance on seafarers for the healthy functioning of their business model, and to show concern for seafarers’ wellbeing by signing the Neptune Declaration.

Sign on to our petition to Walmart to sign the Neptune Declaration for Seafarer Welfare and Crew Change. Help prevent labor trafficking and support these essential workers!
