Community Memory. Community Power. Community Ownership.
The story of the Gas Plant Neighborhood is a powerful reminder of how systems — housing, development, land use, and economics — shape the health and future of our communities.
For many Black neighborhoods across the country, including right here in South St. Petersburg, decisions made without community voice led to displacement, lost wealth, and broken food systems. When communities lose land, businesses, and institutions, they often lose access to healthy food, economic opportunity, and generational stability.
That’s why conversations like the upcoming screening of RAZED: A Film About the Gas Plant Neighborhood matter.
At One Community Grocery Co-op (OCGC), we believe systems change happens when communities move from being displaced to becoming owners.
🥕 Community-owned food systems
🏪 Cooperative businesses
💰 Local wealth building
🌱 Healthy food access
A community-owned grocery store is about more than food — it’s about restoring agency, rebuilding local economies, and ensuring that the people who live in a neighborhood help shape its future.
We encourage our community to attend this important screening, learn from our shared history, and continue building solutions together.
Because when communities organize, remember, and invest in themselves…
we don’t just rebuild — we transform.

Pastor Wade with Sister Reba and Family.
Todays Word was lifted from Psalm 91:1-10 Subject : Keep First Things First!

Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
