In anticipation of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Sept. 8th, we officially blessed our Marian Grotto this past Saturday…

Heavenly Father, you chose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the Mother of your Son and the Mother of the Church. Bless + this grotto, raised in her honor.
May all who come here in prayer be drawn closer to Jesus through the loving example and intercession of Mary. May this be a place of peace, consolation, gratitude, and renewed trust in you.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

What if your prayer life could go deeper?

Marcy Huber already had a deep prayer life when she began the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL) Retreat. She had daily devotions and monthly spiritual direction, but SEEL stretched her in new and unexpected ways.

“Jesus introduced me to new depths of His love.”

Through nine months of prayer and reflection, Marcy experienced a deeper surrender, developed new spiritual disciplines, and discovered a greater capacity to encounter God in the middle of both the messy and beautiful moments of everyday life.
She describes leaving SEEL with a deeper relationship with Christ, a renewed sense of purpose, and strengthened holy habits.

If you’re longing to go deeper in your relationship with Jesus, SEEL may be the next step.

The retreat runs from late September through May and includes:
🙏 Daily prayer
🙏 Weekly group meetings
🙏 Individual spiritual direction
Registration deadline: September 15

Meet Louis! 👋

Please join us in welcoming Louie Candelaria, our new Youth Minister at St. Raphael’s!

Louie has lived in the Tampa area for most of his life and spent several years in seminary, where he grew in his faith while discerning the priesthood. He ultimately discerned out of seminary and is grateful for this new opportunity to serve the Lord and our parish.

Louie has four siblings, including a sister who is a religious sister with the Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Gainesville, Florida. He loves the Lord, His Church, being active outdoors, and playing games.

He’s excited to use what he gained in seminary to serve our parish and be a role model for our teens. Let’s go! 🙌

Meet Hanna! 👋

Please join us in welcoming Hanna Rutila, our new Pastoral Assistant!

Originally from Detroit, Hanna studied psychology at Michigan State University and is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord and accompany others on their faith journeys.

Outside of the parish, Hanna enjoys antique shopping, exploring new coffee shops, playing volleyball, and traveling. She also has a passion for mental health advocacy and supporting those who may be struggling. Her patron saint, St. Dymphna, holds a special place in her heart as the patron saint of those affected by mental illness.

Hanna is excited to get to know our parish family and see all that God has in store! If you see her around the parish, please say hello. She would love to meet you! 💙

Faith Beyond the School Day

In the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, the prayer table is a special place where children learn to
pray and become aware of God’s loving presence. Whether in the atrium, classroom, or home, this
simple space invites children into a deeper relationship with God.

The prayer table pictured was thoughtfully prepared by some of our Extended Day children in the Pre-K classroom. Even when the regular school day has ended, these young disciples continue to care for their sacred environment with reverence and purpose. Taking time to arrange the prayer table, prepare materials, and create a space for prayer helps them develop concentration, responsibility, and a sense of belonging within the faith community.

What makes this especially beautiful is that the work of faith formation does not stop when school is not in session. Through simple acts of service and prayer, children continue to nurture their
relationship with God, carrying the spirit of the atrium into every season and every part of their
lives.
